You have left the long/lat coordinates in the picture so anyone can look up where it is. Thought I'd let you know. But yes Google Earth and Maps is awesome.

Trouble is... those pictures can be up to 4yrs old.
It will tell you how old the picture is down the bottom of screen. They arent updated on that much of a regular basis.

Showing how old some of these pictures are...this is our little town:
23°34'55.67"S 149° 4'12.59"E There are large vacant blocks of land that have had houses on them for five years now, and houses that are no longer there. Fairly out of date, even though the bottom of the screen says "2012 Sensis maps"... |

The Townsville google maps were taken in 2009..... and google street view was in 2007. You can see my old EL wagon parked in the driveway still...

A handy little feature is the historical imagery tool (below left next to the imagery date) which brings up a slider bar to let you select images from other dates - depending on availability. Handy if your area of interest is covered by a cloud.

Yeah Nearmap is a much better service.
And you can go back through different periods as well via the timeline at the top.

During the last floods here (Feb this year) our local council asked them to come over and photo the town area again to see the main flood areas. The detail was so good you can even see the oil trail coming from the cars that got caught in some of the car yards.

That's an awesome website!!! Thanks!!!
I don't care who knows where we are...this is an image of our place, taken back at 20th June 2011, obviously before we got rid of our little blue '57 Morris Minor, and when we still owned a boat. The old '93 Corolla Seca that needs a head gasket is sitting down the back corner of the yard. The silver car on the footpath is, I believe, our daughters Mazda 6...obviously they were visiting then. I had a look at my mothers place down in Bundaberg, and see that in nearly all the images she's out working in the garden. Sattellite photos are great...but you can't beat a nice sharp aerial photograph... |

I tried to use nearmap this morning also and couldn't figure out where the free login had moved to................as for the prices!
You could get a top of the line remote control plane, a gopro and start your own website for that sort of money. |

This is off google maps but still the same...
Our old house dated march 2010. The XE is now stripped down in a rebuild, the EF we are currently rebuilding as our skid car and the commodore is long gone. Not to mention we moved towns this year lol.

Nearmaps is now and always has been a joke.
It has good coverage in the capital cities and mine areas and almost none at all anywhere else. |

Unless there was a flood and the Wagga council asked them to come back and do it again

Thought I'd look at a place I'm going to on Google and spotted this nearby. Not all were happy with that company it seems.
