Default 3" for the XR

Gday all,

I was just wondering if any performance exhausts companies manufacture off-the-shelf 3 inch exhaust systems for the AU I6?

I would get one custom made, but the local exhaust shops do not have mandrel bending equipment (probably doesn't matter at that diameter, more for piece of mind).

Another option I was considering was getting a 3" V8 system and modifying it to suit...

Any thoughts?

I was thinking that. Which sparked the idea of getting a V8 front half and getting the shop to modify that to suit the layout of the six.

Why not simply bolt the entire XR8 unit up and mod the front end to suit the single cat?

Excellent info guys, the V8 exhausts are made for IRS, and I have a live rear axle. And since I am not quite happy with my current exhaust setup, the Lukey it will be. Won't be for a couple of weeks now though as I have found the wheels I want.

You're never happy with your exhaust setup. But I'll take your tailpipe if you want :

Stiddy and Stealthau, could you tell me the brands of the 3" cat back you guys have? I'm looking at installing it myself to save a few $$$.

On another note, looks like redback make one for the I6. Damn mechanic hasn't called back with a price yet though :
