Default first long trip

just finish an 800km trip to and from south coast in my Ford Fiesta WP zetec... was absolutely epic through twisty country and mountain roads and even on motorways... although foot is very sore from no cruse control :(... one thing i did notice was that after a long period of time without changing gears, the clutch became very heavy but was fine afterwards? didnt seem to worry the car just my left leg lol... dunno if its normal or not though...

I drive from Hobart to Wagga & back twice a year & haven't noticed the clutch getting heavy in mine. Only just ticked over 60k though.

My WP Zetec had a clutch that was like pushing a brick wall every-time you changed gear! It was very heavy, but it was always just heavy, never went light or any heavier especially over a trip. Hope your Fez is ok.

worked out today that the car was averaging 6.4l/100km's... which i am very happy about... considering there were some very short 2 minute trips, windy roads going up steep mountains and the highway. its the best economy i hav had out of it yet.!

Hey mate, definitely just tiredness..

In my XR5 on the drive down to melbourne going through tarcutta (after ~4hrs of nothing but 110kmh) pressing the clutch for the first time felt like pushing a wall, but its just cos ur leg has sat there doing nothing

It just means your left leg has atrophied from disuse.

I bet it happens all the time to people who only drive auto trannies.

something else i will add is that it was surprisingly comfortable in the trip... seats good, and ride nice and smooth... and thats for a car thats 5 years old with 100k kms on the clock.... had it 4 months now, couldnt be happier with it!
