I've had the car about 6 weeks now and and now starting to tinker around a little bit.
The handbrake shoe was sticking to the disc a bit on the right rear and making that horrible squealing sound. I printed out the instructions on how to adjust the handbrake but came up with the following problem: The inspection hole on the disc doesn't line up with the inspection hole on the hub so you can't adjust the handbrake without taking the disc off. The problem with that is you either don't adjust it enough and it brake doesn't hold or you over tighten it and you can't get the disc back on. Sitting here thinking about it, is it possible the guy that had the car before me put the discs on *** about ie. left on the right and right on the left? The hole for the securing screw lines up but not for the inspection hole that has the rubber grommet. Cheers Matt |

Yep that is a possibllity of the L on the R and R on the L
The inspection hole should be under the bung and it should line up easy to poke a screw stick thru it to back off or tighten the hand brake adjuster Trust me I dicked around for a few months to eliminate the dreaded squeek and ended up taking it to FORD and within 1 hour is was fixed all properly aligned and adjusted and it now works It was just under $50 - best money spent on the car Alan

Jack up the back of the car (both wheels off the ground), chock the front wheels, put the car in neutral and leave the handbrake off. Then rotate the disc/hub assembly until the inspection hole lines up.

I'm replacing the coil springs this weekend, while I'm doing that I'll remove both rear wheels at the same time and inspect the discs to see if they are on the wrong sides. I prefer to do all work myself and only go to the mechanic if need specialised tooling etc. Cheers |

The hole on the disc is nowhere near the hole to adjust the handbrake.(at least 5cm further around) I'll take a picture of it on Sunday when I take it apart

The adjuster is static - ie is part of the brake system that doesn't move. The hole moves with the disc. If they don't line up, just rotate the disc until they do.
