Thought the plebiscite would have settled the issue. Still scratching my head over the Greens and Labor with Xenophone voting it down. I would have accepted the result and moved on, but as time goes on it appears the LGHJHGGSDSFS lobby and elites don't trust the people. Maybe support is less than they claim.

The trouble with a plebiscite is that examples of what we just saw with Michele court and her interview on the project will be just a tiny fraction of what will happen.

Both sides will get more aggressive in their preaching that their way is the only way,,and anyone with a thought of their own will be completely ignored.

The responses to it are way over the top and unfortunately becoming too typical these days.
I want to know how an entity eg. Qantas, Tennis Australia, can have an opinion.
I have no problem with a CEO or a janitor or a shop assistant having an opinion but none of those has the right to demand that their entity has the same one.

Would not the public be more accepting of the outcome if we all marked yes or no?

Really, my point was the plebiscite could have been done and dusted if Labor and Greens main interest was marriage equality instead of politics. It would have passed like it did in Ireland imo.

The one thing about politics is it always wastes time and money. Why would you object to money being spent on this particular issue?

So what if people put forward passionate arguments for their cause. Isn't that what democracy is about? Should we be scared of a debate? Should we shut down debate on the grounds of hurt feelings. Like any issue there are a range of issues and views. We should never suppress views we should encourage expressing them.

Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman.

It also condones marriage between a man and many women. A man, a woman and his concubines. A man and the woman he raped provided he pays the father the value of her virginity. Force marriage between your slaves.

If you can provide a good reason as to why marriage between two consenting adults should not be allowed, I'm happy to evaluate. Cos the Bible says isn't going to cut it.

I support SSM and I support Margaret Court’s freedom to express her opinion against but I do think complaining about being bullied is a bit far-fetched.

Bullying is a subject the gay community knows a lot about as they’ve suffered it across cultures throughout history and still do and it goes way beyond verbal attacks.

Even on our own doorstep where the gay bashings of the seventies were considered acceptable by the majority of the population or a least not seen as any great concern and where the Police often couldn’t be bothered properly investigating any death that smelt of a homophobic crime.

The bulling aspect of the argument on her side needs to be put into perspective.

These days with the very much opinionated traditional media and now social media if you have a comment to make on a decisive subject, rightly or wrongly you have to accept you’ll cope a torrent of abuse for your efforts, it goes with the territory.

i only saw minimal about this stupidity so the following may be off base but I like an opportunity to share MY OPINION on why I think this crap still happens.
Humans are a relatively young species, intelligence as we know it is new to us, lots of people still believe in god, unfortunately it's this superstition that guided the previous generations to not accept people if their preference in partner shares the same gender, either that or they're homophobic, personally, I couldn't give a toss, not only because I'm not stupid enough to believe in god but because if Adam and Steve wanna get it on, good luck to them, it doesn't effect me!
