Default Roller rockers yes no?

I was just wondering if any one could fill me in on the pros and cons of roller rockers seeing they cost quite a lot what are the benifits are they easy to set up i have a 302 cleveland thanks :baby bott

They ROLL across valve tip [roller bearing] instead of sliding.Cuts down valve guide wear ..
Often fitted to improve lift as well, though 302 C's have 1:72 ratio..The falcram point on good rockers are roller bearing as well and should hardly wear..They are much more rigid and don't flex like pressed steel rockers..The stud mount type need pushrod guids and hardened pushrods ...

Unless your going for serious revs/power (and with a 302C, its safe to assume your not) then they are a waste of money.

Basically, roller rockers reduce friction in the drivetrain, typically they can be of stamped steel design with a roller tip/friction mount or alloy with roller tip/needle bearing mount.

A few Benefits -

A roller rocker rolls across the top of the valve, pushing the valve down squarely as opposed to the stock friction tip which 'wipes' across the valve tip causing the valve stem to be pushed against the valve guide creating friction and wear.

The alloy roller rockers are far stronger than stock rockers, so are capable of withstanding high revs.

If it has a needle bearing mount, there is again a reduction in friction, less friction = more power/less heat.

It just so happens I have a set of 1.6 ratio Windsor roller rockers if anyone is interested ! I also have cleveland 1.73 ratio , but I have plans to use them soon !

Poller rockers are probly a waste of money on a near stock engine , but if you start putting in high lift cams and heavy valve springs they are worth the expense !

my friend said he'll blow all of us away wen he gets roller rockers in his VS V6 ?would they give that much of a power increase

LOL ..... The VS V6 Commodore already has roller type rockers fitted from factory.....hehehe im not kidding...i play with them everyday at work !!! hahaha sorry im almost in tears hearing that comment. :

Without a doubt a great modification.

Even on a stock 302.

Although more suited for hi po motors, it will reduce the wear of a stock motor.

He'd be fitting higher ratio rockers...Or wasting time and money if not....

Maybe spend ya money on manifold carb set up, or extractors. that will give ya a bit more power. What car is it in?

i did that allready extractors edelbrock manifold holly 600 and i just had a 2and half inch exhuast fitted its going quite well :
