Default Calder Park To Under Go A Full Revamp

Just heard at the end of next month Calder Park raceway will close down for a total revamp, not sure how long this will take, I just hope its true and we get our world class drag facility back.

Different story, but i will touch on this quickly, I was in Adelaide last Saturday for a few hours picking up some drag racing parts, and the story I was told is AIR is in limbo because it was to be SOLD to a large wrecker in Adelaide called Russo, he payed Bob a deposit after the deposit was payed and the paper work was checked over for final sale Bob allegedly held back on a large part of the land, and said it wasn't going to be in the sale of AIR.
Its been through the law courts for some time now, until its resolved I cant see a dollar being spent on AIR.
The land in dispute is about 100 acres.

Bull i will believe it when i see it. I heard this in 1980 when it was going to have a total revamp and include an F1 circuit. Bob needs to just close the shop and get out and let someone other than his kid run the place. I my opinion if it closes it will never re-open.

For drag parts in S.A, go see OG speed shop. Very switched on racer operated shop.

I wonder if Australand Properties are doing the "revamp" :Reverend:
We might end up with 500 new homes and 10 foot wide streets!

That happened with people that were interested in buying the land before this guy. On another note, in our local messenger last week a few chaps came up with the idea of turning the old Mobil refinery(if anyone is familiar with it) into a motorsport park. Great idea but would take more than 5 years to do anyways with clean-up of the site. Interesting thing is heaps of people are behind it, even local M.P's.

It will be interesting to hear details of it, of what a "revamp" actually incorporates. Will this mean a totally resealed drag strip, improved or construction of spectator mounds, and improvements to pit and access facilities, or will it mean a few bits of asphalt lobbed over the existing patches and some more gravel put on the goat track

A lot of people will be very cautious about whats happening, and time will tell if things have changed or not

They are however about to build a 1/4 in barmera.

Not sure on if they have started yet but its definitely going to happen...

I wouldn't mind if they just demolished the old crap buildings and resealed the whole place!!!!!!!! That would be good enough for me as i could now wash my car before the drags, and still have a clean car after coming back from the return road after 1 run!!!!

from what iv heard on the grape vines is that not only calder gettin a revamp the oval track is on the plans to get revamped as well and auscar will be coming back if this is true and goes ahead.
now that will be funny to see all the stuff under the mounds .
wonder how many (allegedly) stolen cars ,trucks and whatever else is under there.

If it's closing down for a few months for a full revamp they're still letting the track be used by businesses. Start of the year I got one of those V8 Race experince tickets for my birthday where you drive a BA around the track for 8 laps and the available dates are every couple of weekends till the end of th year

I'de imagine if it were getting a revamp they would be shutting some parts down, including the track, for a fair while while they did so...who knows
