Default Mark WEBBER seriously injured in collision.

BREAKING NEWS: FORMULA One ace Mark Webber has had a head-on collision with a car while riding his bike in Tasmania.
The Sunday Herald Sun has learned that at 12.30pm Webber, who drives for Red Bull Racing, collided with the car while riding south towards Port Arthur on the remote Tasmanian Peninsula.

Webber was competing in his own charity event, the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge.

Search and rescue police officer Damian Bidgood said Webber appeared to have a serious lower leg injury.

“Unfortunately he’s had a head-on,’’ Sgt Bidgood said.

“It will put him out of action for a while.’’

Rescuers are transporting Webber by road ambulance to a property known as Oakwood, just north of the site made infamous by gunman Martin Bryant during the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, Seascape.

A rescue helicopter is waiting on the oval at Port Arthur, just near the ruins of the historic convict site, waiting to fly to Oakwood to collect Webber.

He will then be flown to the Domain in Hobart and taken to hospital.

That is amazing, no mention if it was on a road bike or anything like that? That's the problem with bikes, you can be the best rider in the world but it takes one moron not looking to ruin your life.

What makes you think it's not the Mark's fault?

Default Mark Webber hit by car!

Competing in his own charity event 'mark webber challenge' down in tassie, mark has been hit by a 4wd whilst riding his bike. reports are a bit vague at the moment but his injuries are non life threatening and at this stage it seems he has a broken leg.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,...-23770,00.html

with the F1 season kicking off in march, hopefully he can make the start line.

Mark Webber critics and knockers need not post!!

Hopefully he has a full & speedy recovery, he was hit head on by an X-trail it's thought he could have some fairly major fractures to his legs & arms but nothing life threatening thankfully.

I'm with you plext. That is some pretty low crap posted here. My words not yours. He has had a head on accident whilst competing in a charity event that he organises and puts his name to.

Mark, all the best buddy. I hope you recover quickly as possible. Best of luck.

Maybe a brain injury is what he needs to win a few races. :evil3: it could spark something in his head that triggers the natural ability to WIN.

Lower leg is broken, according to the news. Hopefully they do a good job on it so it heals quickly.

Must be that darned black cat that keeps following him around....

Poor Mark

Wishing him a speedy recovery and hopefully we see him on the starting grid at the F1 series opener in Melbourne

To get slagged off whilst organising an event to help those less fortunate is a little low :(

GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, he can't blame his car this time.....Maybe the bike was serviced by Red Bull???

And to think of it, the person in the car would be saying "Effin Bike Riders, get on your own side of the road, you guys think you own the road" or "I just didn't see him, he was in my blind spot".

I am a Mark Webber fan, but I'm sorry, too much irony in this.
It's just so much for him not to finish, it's like old times.

It will be a great moment for him to be on the podium.! Get that monkey off his back.

Oh man.

I thought he might actually finish a race this time.

NEWS just said, broken lower leg and bruising

Six weeks

Schuey broke his leg and came back after six weeks off and stuck the car on pole by over a second.

Well, that's my prediction. Webber on Pole in Melbourne by over a second.

And Off the track at the first corner

All this agro for a guy doing something he likes & benifiting others, come om guys this is getting a bit tardy to say the least, he will be out of action , while other drivers will be testing, this is a bad start for his 2009 F1 Melbourne GP!.

Just have a look at all the things the competitors have to do!

while i have laughed at some of the replies, as some have suggested - it is a bit rough putting the guy down, when he has been injured working very hard (as always) for charity

the guy deserves some credit for doing these events, when he could be sitting at home watching the v8's on the tv with a can in his hand. instead he is of working his butt off for those less fortunate
