Thumbs up Old cars you wish you still had

I was just wondering what cars you might of had when you were younger etc that you wish you still have these days.. I mean the kind some thrashed around that are actually worth a bit of money these days.

I am currently living with my uncle and some of his story's about past cars he had when he was young make me think..what if he still had them?

Some cars he has had are:
-HG GTS monaro (he took to it with an axe with the sh!ts) i bet these days
he wishes he still had it..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-HQ GTS monaro (worked 308 that could powerskid 250-300m)
-Heavily modified F100 with a worked 351 that could beat most normal cars
at the time..
-XY falcon 500 with worked 6 (his very first car)

Just some of he's past cars are what i could only dream of owning!!

A close family friend has similar stories..some cars he had are:
-GTHO PHASE III falcon (wishes he still had)
-Valiant Charger (probably why he is a mega charger lover)
-Valiant Panelvan
-Old Jeep with 14 inches of lift and 40 inch tyres (says the tray use to be at
your chin and i actually have seen pictures of that car)

So yeah tell any stories you have of the good old times when muscle cars where cheap and driven like they're meant to be

Not a muscle car but i really wish i still had my first car. 1972 XA Falcon 500. 250 3sp Auto Column shift. It had a real straight body too and i sprayed her in Matt Blak. One day i will get back to my grass roots and revive a classic.

I wish my parents kept their ED wagon. That car was a gem.

I could've had it as my first, but I wanted a VL.

In a way I wish I did. Not that the VL is bad (It's a 5 speed atleast), just this ED was incredibly tidy.

I think it was sold with 190,***Ks. The car yard sold it for $9990.

My 1967 MkI Cooper S... I had to sell it when the first kid was born.

Other than that one I have been happy to see each car on its way.

My first car was an Australian made Mini Clubman GT. There were only 283 Aussie Clubman GT's made, distinguished by the factory twin fuel tanks and the prefix to the engine number. Declared a "Total Loss" by insurance when a bogan in a Bommodore rear ended me.

My Father In Law had a HQ Monaro with a seriously worked 350 when he was much younger (1970's). Once again, written off, and the insurance assessor pilfered the worked engine for his speedboat!

In recent times, he sold an XC Fairmont GXL 351 4 speed, only needed a bit of a tidy up and a new radiator, for the princely sum of two grand. I had just a few weeks previously bought my car. If I had known he was gonna sell the GXL I would have bought it in an instant.

Another farm story from Cowboy. Found a VH charger in a shed on a farm, light green with white trim, only about 20000 on the clock. Still had plastic sleeve on sunvisor with instructions etc. Totally unmarked. The guy said it was for sale and he wanted what he paid for it new, $3600. I didn't have the money at the time so organised a mate to buy it. Wish I had scraped the cash up.

I wish I still had my RS2000 ... it's only been gone a week but I miss it already. I wonder if my son will let me have a drive of it once in a while?

Oh, and I really wish I still had my XC Cobra. Anyone know where Cobra #188 is these days?

I've had a heap of cars, and the only one I really miss is my Nissan 180sx. Very basic mods with 13.6 1/4 mile, used stuff all petrol and handled and braked like no other car I've owned!

Occasionally I miss my VX Berlina Gen3 wagon, but then I remember what an unreliable POS it was!

I think yours, and the T3 are the only AU's I've ever seen that I actually really like the look of. Very tasteful mods, well done! I especially like how you kept the amber repeaters - they suit the colour much more than clears would.

My 1973 Mk3 Ford Cortina 2000GT (my 2nd car)

This was the model that had the twin circular headlamps.

Bought it in NZ in 1980 for $4,000 with 50,000 miles on the clock....Daytona Yellow with a black vinyl roof. Did a few bling mods to it (13 x 6.5" Gold Cheviot Turbo Mags, sunroof and of course the mandatory rear window louvre and jacking up the rear end with Monroe air shocks so you could see the red painted diff. (lol)....Sold it after 2 years for $5,000 to a rev head who wrapped it around a power pole drunk after only having it 2 weeks.

Now many of you guys may think whats so special about this car....but I loved it....was great to drive and in NZ in those days was a very popular car.

Not many of these left now (in fact the GT was never released in Australia) NZ inherited it from Ford UK ..The OZ equivalent was the TC XLE I believe the differences being that the XLE model had the chrome wheel arch trims, different rims, no black paint between the tail lights and a different interior.

Heres a link if you wanna see a pic of a Mk3 Gt..This is a bit of a roughy but gives you some idea what they looked like

http://www.mk3cortina.com/cgi-bin/im...jpg&img=24&tt=

I'd love to find one of these one day to restore

Cheers Pete

Gotta love the old Garage memorabilia. Just like you said, probably not worth that much but its just so kool to have things like that. Old petrol bowsers do fetch a good price though. Its just kool to have a few old oil bottles etc.
