Been thinking about my first car, which i have been saving for and I'm after some advice. Have my heart set on a BA or BF Xr6, and would love a manual. Anyone have any advice on which is a better car/transmission and why? Would hate to buy a car and realise that somethings amiss or whatnot.
Cheers

You'll also need to factor in insurance for whatever car you pick. A LOT of places still won't want to know you if you're under 30 - even in an NA 6.
I bought mine at 21, and only two places would touch it. The place I ended up going with was $1500/year, but have now sent me a letter stating their business has changed and will no longer cover me after the current policy runs out, because I'm under 30 (28).

BA Xr6 - 4 speed auto and 5 speed manual - 182kw engine
BF Xr6 - 4 speed auto standard, 6 speed auto option and 6 speed manual standard - 190kw engine For utes its only 4 speed auto standard, 5 speed manual standard. BF has a little less headaches, other then that, not much difference. BA has different tail lights to BF, standard wheels are different and the front bumper.

Oh sorry the cars in my sig aren't road going. The Mazda is nans old car and our paddock bomb ( we live on a farm), the Escort is a race car and the XF is for burnouts. I mean has anyone got any ideas on why, for a p plater, an auto or manual might be better?

Good point, seeing as I'm after a BF which has a ZF standard, or as an option?

My first car was/is a BA XR6 auto.
If I could have my time over, I'd do a few things differently. 1) It would def be a manual. Tiptronic, while good, is not half as good as a manual. 2) It would have some factory options. Little things like full power windows, large colour scree, LSD, etc, would make a good car great. 3) It would probably be a BF. As good as the BA is, and I love mine, the BF sorts out some little bugs that are around in BA. I probably should have saved for just a little bit longer, but I guess the excitment of having my license got the better of me. Don;t get me wrong, if you end up in a BA auto with pov pack, you'll still love it. I know I do. But a BF manual with some extras would be a very great car to have.
