Don't know if anyone is interested, but we have new trailers coming online where I work. I will be getting a set, as will 4 other drivers. And Scania R580's will do the chugging. A bit harder to back than a normal double, and West Swanston Dock is all backing to be loaded. They will be mass managed and gross weight will be 109,000kgs.

I'd love to see some of the haulers at my old job at Freo Container Depo back those babies in. They had enough problems with just a 40 and a 20!

Nar, I back a B double about 8 times a shift 6 days a week, these are only 4 mtrs longer. Just need a little more room to swing.

The last axle is actually a steering axle. There isn’t any more scrubbing than a regular tri axle with an 8 foot 6 inch spread.

These are actually easier to reverse than a regular 25 metre B-double. It’s all to do with the axle spacing. The hardest B-double combination to reverse is actually a 19 metre combination. The two smaller trailers tend to turn on an axis faster then you can correct or to counteract their movement. It’s all to do with very slow movement of the steering wheel when reversing.

The quad and tri have a steerable rear, giving around the same cut in as a double, if not better. Just have to lock them before reversing.

Yeah mate, 2 x 40 or 4 x 20. Yep, Ford have been running triples for a few years now, and they don't have to back them at either end. Campbellfield and Geelong are both drive through. They are only light by comparison though, having no tri's.

Absolutely correct on all points. Small corrections and a liesurely pace will do it. I watch many other guys struggling and getting frustrated, throwing the wheel around and trying to chase it. Comical sometimes. But ones needs entertainment now and then. _2:

I'm in and out of West Swanson most days and watching you guys having to back the trailers in to be loaded seems pretty rediculous to me!!!

I hear the new southbound heavy vehicle station being built on the F3 (NSW) will be able to cater for B triples. Thats not to say B triples will run on the F3 but anyone who's spent any time on that bit of road will no doubt be a little suprised!

had some one from ova sea's apply for a road train job the other day , the boss took him out to the truck n left him 1 hr out of town all he had to do was bring it back coz it was loaded the boss had other things to do so left him there , he rang the boss 2 hrs latter n said how you start this vehical n wheres the tracks ( road train he recond he was goina drive trains )

sweet. i have heard whispers of setups like this for a while now.
after seeing the FCL guys with the quad skels with the front and rear lift axles, its good to see this in a full combination.

Ford have had the B-triples for ages now.

everyone i have talked to about RT work, have liked the b-triple+dolly and 40ft rear. said they track much better.

that said, for round town, give me my single any day.

watched him back onto the dolly of his dog trailer one night, straight into the ringfeder

not special till you consider it was on a bush road, around a corner and the only clue he had as to what was where was me shining a torch on the lead tyres of the dolly
