Default Dogs - RIP

We've just had to say goodbye to the most gorgeous, loving, selfless creature, it will ever be my good fortune to know.
His unfailing love and devotion, and sheer joy of living, sustained him and us far longer than we had any right to expect.
Goodbye my precious boy Jasper. Run free. I believe that you are in heaven now, and I can only hope to join you some day.
My heart is destroyed. I cannot bear to say goodbye.
You have given me so much unconditional love and devotion. I wish I could have done more.
I would give anything for one more cuddle and lick

That’s terribly sad. Sorry to hear it, yet glad he had a good run in your care.

I'm so sorry to hear that, my heart broke reading your post.

I love this image, it perfectly depicts the love and bond I have with my best friend.

I'm sure Jasper is looking down and wishing you well, and hoping you get to love another dog just as much.

Yes, it absolutely kills when we lose a faithful dog.
Cried my eyes on on my last dog about 6 years ago, held her close whilst the vet gave her the green dream (had cancer).
I will be a mess when my current dog has to leave, she's an absolute gem.
Condolences to you, time does help.

We lost 2 last year.
It's gut wrenching, especially when you've had them since being a puppy and so used to them hanging around with you.
I'll swear I often see Missy, our Border Collie around the place.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family, I am a cat person but love all animals, a dog is a mans best friend too, just as a cat, or budgie or even a reptile can be, but dogs seem to have a certain humanity about them, they hear that leash being unhooked and they know its walkies or the sound of a dog can being opened up, how they sit and watch, they are more than pets eh, part of the daily routine of family life!

Sorry brother.

Cheers Billy

Feeling your loss, Dazz. Your words were very touching. Jasper would be touched, too, I'm sure.

I've said it before in the 'Show Us Your Pets' thread, but I'll say it again here as I'm sure others can relate; putting down our family pet was one of the hardest things I've had to do in my life. That was about 12 years ago and it still makes me emotional thinking about it.

A dog - emotion, devotion, best friend - one word that can create so much.

Feel for your loss Daz - the best memories will always be there to look back upon.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your best friend.

Excellent write up mate.

I lost my best mate 2 months ago (Bruce - black and white) and my parents who I was close to (Jowy - Apricot and white) shortly after.

Animals have been far more trustworthy to me than people in recent times so I completely understand who you are feeling as it is devastating. Terry is 6 and alone so we are looking for his new friend asap.

RIP Jasper (and Bruce and Joey)

I was shocked at how much losing my staffy hurt.
She had an amazing run - 17 years! But my god, did it hurt when she was put down.
Its been years and we have another dog running around our feet now but I still miss her very much.

Always sad to hear.
Been years since we lost our 2 beautiful Shepherds. Still say goodnight to them every night when we look out at the stars.

Daz, when i throw an extra blanket on my little girl, Gypzy, tonight, I'll wisper in her ear to look out for a guy named Jasper, when it's her time to leave me. Sounds like they would be a good match when they're running free.
Gypz is 17 at the end of this month. At the rate she's going, she should make it to 18 with out to much drama. Typical Kelpie. When she does go, well i reckon i'll be just as shattered as when i lost my wife nearly two years ago. (no disrespect to either).
These guys grow on you so much. Remember the good times.
