Default Stolen HO recovered in Perth

Last Nov a GTHO was stolen from a panel shop in a Perth suburb.
It was located today in another panelshop.
Police chased a stolen van which ended up on train tracks and got stuck.
The driver dumped it and ran and the canine dog tracked him down. He looked a bit worse for wear on the news too, a few bites and blood all over his face.
Anyway their inquiries lead to a stolen car racket at a nearby panel shop where the GT was recovered and appeared to be OK. Apparently it was about to be shipped out of WA.
One lucky GT owner getting his car back.

extremely lucky news for the owner! Surprising that it hadn't already vanished without a trace though, I guess they were waiting for the heat to die down a bit before moving it on. Ah well, good that it's going back to where it belongs all in one piece and great to hear that old mate got a pizzling from the dogs too! Don't mess! :

was great to hear this car was found. apparantly it was due to go to Adelaide. I would have thought that it would be untouchable, but smeone wanted it badly enough. Ialso saw the guy on the ews with a bit f blood on his head. They should have let the dog finish him off. Good news that it looks like they have busted a group stealing cars, so it looks like a big win all round. The cops cop a lot of flack, but this was very well done. Now for the judge to let him off lightly and the justice process will be complete.

I dunno if that was sarcasm or not, but if it was my HO im pretty sure i'd much prefer my car back then the money and im guessing if he was a 'genuine owner' meaning has it for the love of the car not as an investment, that he;d love to have it back too.

I doubt whether the payout would have gone through yet.

If it has, owners are sometimes given the option to purchase the vehicle back.

I hope the car hasnt been damaged or cut up at all. That would be a major shame.

Lucky lucky man, but considering the cars arnt selling for a million anymore (there was a time but some dont even get close to that) id be glad to get the insurance money. After all, a normal XY or XW isnt much different when you have around $950 000 left over.

That is bloody awesome I only read about it today in SM, if they were ballsy enough to steal a HO i wonder what other cars they found in the shop.

OT but would an average joe who does own a HO even be able to afford the premiums for a car worth a mil, it may have not even been insured for that much cash if thats the case.

EDIT: Just read other posts that beat me to it!!

just an unrelated story about what it can do losing a valuable car like this , a friend here in Hervey Bay had a good panel beating shop and after 4 break ins where most tools were stolen and then his apprentice's XY GT fully restored got taken from same workshop(never been recovered) on a tandem trailer in daytime on weekend he could not get insurance cover at affordable price and lost heart in it all and sold bussiness off at a loss to its real value,he had just expanded into buying another panel shop and sold it too, brought a mechanics workshop nearby and says its so much less time conssuming and stressfull that he now enjoys going to work again.
