Default Strange front rotor.

Changed pads on weekend to find a very strange occurance. Passenger side all good, drivers side a bit strange. The actual disk has seperated from the hub!- is this a common problem?- i have never seen this happen before.

wouldn't say a problem as such, that is how they are designed. it is a floating hub, meaning that you don't have to remove the hub to change the disc as with the earlier model falcons

but when looking at replacement disks they all look to be one peice-hub included? I know the bearings and studs are seperate. If what you are saying is true, how come only one side is "floating " and the other seems fixed?

may need a bit of a bash to get it loose lol...the disc itself should holes for the studs and a cutout bit in the middle for it to go over the end of the hub

I know you just came from an X-series ute ... and it would have had the E-series setup IIRC ... it is a different setup on the AUs ... the actual rotor falls straight off as soon as you release the caliper from it.

Sometimes it can get a little rusted to the hub and need to be belted off with a mallet/hammer ... but usually .. it just comes straight off in your hands.

all AU Falcon had knock offs, hub types were eliminated since the death of e series.

ok. well i have purchased new rotors, and will change them over on the weekend. I will take a picture of what has occured. I understand the whole assembly slips over the hub. Its just that one of my rotors (old ones) has seperated- the disk is completly seperate from the rotor.

I think I see what you are trying to say, the contact area of the rotor has become separated from the hat. Not good.

Yeah ... that really isn't good.
I'd actually say that it is best not to drive on it.
Did it only just seperate when you tried to remove it????
Hopefully it was still intact prior to removal (and previous driving).

Could have been a nasty surprise if it really let go when driving.
