Default AU written off today...

Hey guys... Sadly, one less AU is on the road now..

Got a call thismorning from the NRMA, and they've written it off

and at this point in time, looks like i'll be going back to an e-series..

Some final pics of the car, and the damages...

Car last Tuesday (29th)

Car on Thursday (31st)

and some parting pics... taken two days ago.

The chassis rail was found to be badly bent inwards on the drivers side, so thats why it was written off.. plus the k-frame is damaged

Matt - Message sent..

To all interested in bits and pieces off the car, it will more than likely be at the auctions in Sydney very bloody soon... If anyone off here buys it for bits, can they please let me know as I still need to towbar off it.. It was meant to come off last Saturday, but yeah..

Engine is still original and it has a mongoose alarm in it

EF/ELs are so similar, if not the same in a lot of areas. I am sure a man of your skill will work it out anyway.

Not many people will be interested in buying it with that custom dash setup. You could probably buy it back for $200 and get your towbar and use the parts for something else.

if the tow bar wasn't listed as an accessory when you insured it you are entitled to get it off before they sell it AFAIK. years ago a mate had an HQ statesman (I sad a long time ago ) and he had an expensive stainless twin system an edelbrock manifold and a holley plus some nice wheels. they let him take them backas long as he put back the original parts as they werent listed

Sorry to hear. It was an interesting thread. But on the upside, you are OK, you have some $$$ and what you want to do next.
Good luck make sure you post in the AU section what you end up with. I'm sure others would be interested.

Chassis rail was bent slightly in the last accident (t-boned a near new 2007 BF2 F6 that ran a stopsign back in 2008) and re-aligned...

then this time, the drivers side chassis rail took the brunt of the force and bent inwards about 1 inch from standard..

In NSW once a car is written off it can't be re registered except in special circumstances all write offs are statutory write offs as of last month

thats gold!!! for once today im actually laughing naa, your alright mate... but atleast i can laugh at something today

thankfully it wasn't the EF though (was meant to be home that day)... most of the parts in and for the EF were made on my first birthday, and i've put a heap of time into the EF, but yeah... Would've been hard to say goodbye to the EF, very hard

kinda made me sad saying goodbye to it for a final time..

heres what it looked like after we picked the plates up... got to see it for one last time

some parts of the AU wags will still live on in/on the EF wags.. like the roofracks, power antenna, and a few other things..

:(

you would probably get the wreck for next to nothing because of the new write off laws and if you've had it over 5 years or are a car club member related to that car you can get around the new statutory write off laws
