Default Going off the black stuff...

Just wondering if anyone else here owns a 4x4 and likes to take off road and play in the dirt?

Ive got a Nissan Patrol (one day ill re-badge it as a maverick so it looks right in the driveway! :nutsycuck ) and have taken it bush a couple of times now. The best bit is that its a pretty rough machine so the care factor about hitting things is reduced, which increases the fun factor! I was surprised at how much fun you can have at less than 40kph!

Anyone else into 4x4ing? Would be good to get a group together and go out for a day trip somewhere maybe

Cheers,
Dave

Look out, don't mention the dreaded 4WD word on here, according to some, you are worse than a child rapist for driving a 2 tonne killer on the road!

So can i say my EL is a good 4x4 car, its seen more dirt, hills and potholes that most of the actual 4x4s in here!!

I actually used to do a bit of off roading in a Holden Rodeo, and i haven't tried out the new Hilux, but then again 4x4 driving is no fun without a good bit of mud!!! Which is lacking up here....

Give the Vic high Country a go if you are looking for some general 4x4ing. There is a nice loop that leaves from and returns to Mansfield, and visits many of the cattle drovers huts, with a couple of creek passes and one very steep section called the monument. Lots of fun 250 km an easy weekend trip.

Dave ,....... you need to come for a visit :p

For the proper stuff we have a Landcruiser 80 series ......... although she is our daily driver as well .......

As far as other vehicles doing 4x4 stuff I think the eldest has it made ............ although the poor wagon hasnt been the same since ;)

I bought a Maverick SWB about a month ago. Its great fun. It looks worse for wear now after a few trips and I just got a phone call from the mechanic telling me Im up for a $1400 bill to get it running perfect. Both the gas and petrol systems were screwed but "its like a rocket ship compared to before" apparantly.

Ill be in for a day trip, LTDHO likes to give his vitara a go as well and there are a few others here too. Check the show us your fourby thread in the show and shine.

Got any pics of you in the mud?
