hey guys
I'm hoping that someone can help me out with this one. For the last couple of weeks my car has been making a high pitched squealing noise when ever the car first takes off and stops once its hit somewhere around the 3000rpm mark. Once its hit that mark it wont happen again until the car has been turned off for an hour or so than started up again. This morning when I was driving I figured that I'd plant my foot so the car would drop back a gear and quickly hit the rpm needed for the noise to dissapear, but the weirdest thing happened. The car sounded like it dropped back a gear and the rpm increased but it took about 4 seconds after this for the car to actually feel like it dropped back a gear (hope that makes sense lol). what the hell is going on????

Might be a fanbelt sqealing.
I also have a strange noise that starts if I go over 180km/hr. I discovered this on the drag strip. I had a few runs and all was fine, then on the 3rd or 4th run it started making the sound as soon as I go over 180, then as soon as I slow down below 180 the noise stops. This clip isn't the best but its the only one I have, the mic is a bit sensitive so there's a bit of background noise, but you can still hear the high pitched sound. Click here for the clip

A mate of mine had a similar squeal in his AU2 XR8. He thought it was the fan belt, turned out to be the water pump. Worth getting checked if it is the water pump - though the 6 should be OK with failsafe cooling, the V8 will detonate if it gets no cooling water.

It sounds like a dry / worn pully or something slipping

Update
I got my car back yesterday from the machanics and the prob was that there was a leak coming from my rocker cover which was dripping on a belt causing the squel. Nice easy fix, yay

Since I never normally drive over 180, I haven't done anything about mine.
I wonder if it will do it on a dyno ?
