Hey guys, I'm just thinking of buying a used late model Mondeo, and want to know if there are any inherant traits that I need to know about. I am a mechanic, and am a little afraid of euro cars, as in my experience, they have proven to be very unreliable, especially electrially.

look at MB's if your budget allows as most of the bugs have been ironed out...

I've got a MA, and apart from the water entering from the rear hatch (which I've had sorted), I haven't had an issue mechanically.
The battery shat itself and caused a shut down and required a tow, but you're a mechanic so should be able to sort this if it was to occur.

i'll clarify my earlier comment by saying that the MA is a very well sorted car anyway...

Check the Mondeo section of talkford.com. It looks like the early ones had a few teething problems - things like the aircon condenser, keyless entry, etc. So I'd probably avoid the very early ones (2007) and you should be fine.

Haven't had any troubles with my July 08 MA Diesel. However, the MB got the improved HMI, and a little extra chrome which goes a long way to making these cars look even better.

Likewise, my Aug07 MA Diesel sedan hasn't had any issues so far. Great car.

I love my 2008 Oiler. Heaps of torque with no issues what so ever. Best looking car on the road by far.
