Hi all, a few weeks back I was chasing a dead double DIN deck for an AU.
I wasn't happy with the look of the single DIN deck and the pocket below, so I came up with an idea for a more "factory" look. Thanks to JC for suppling one, i've hacked into it a fair bit, and below is the progress. I will give a bit more info tonight. But in the mean time.....

Ok for those interested, here's the final outcome. Sorry for the poor pics, having trouble with the lack of light. I'll try to get some better ones when the sun is out.
If you are curious what the lower unit is, that's a stacker controller for the fm modulated stacker in the boot. Notice that four buttons still remain, tune (dead), presets 1 & 6 (dead) and the on/off switch is now used the control the aerial.

That has got to be one of the best single DIN installs I have seen.

I thought I was just lending you the radio to take some measurements off! Oh well, I suppose it's yours to keep now. LOL.
That looks fantastic.

Thanks all for your positive comments. It's something I've been pondering over for a long time, and it's turned out better than expected.
Drove the car a bit today & not one rattle from it which is fantastic. JC, oops that will teach me for not reading the fine print LOL Blueprint, feel free that's what the forums are for. I think I have spent about 10 hrs all up. Looks quite original too.

Haha, originally the fm modulated stacker was used when the original premium sound deck was playing up, as it plays cd's through the fm frequency.
When I installed the single DIN I couldn't be bothered removing the stacker so I thought i'd leave it all setup and have a 7 disc capacity. Not that I ever use it.

Looks good, might look a bit better if you remove all the knobs of the factory unit and smooth it out with some fibre galss

That looks very good. Dito with the comments about smoothing the surface and doing away with the knobs. Great work though.
