When you slow down in my mates AU II it shakers violently for a second the goes back to normal.
It's form the engine and is not brake shudder. It shakes like really really bad like there's an earthquake in the car. What could be causing this? Only happens when slowing down and always almost before stopped.

Idle speed controller or Throttle Position sensor, either of them will cause that.

Ok thanks.
The accelerator also feels rather stiff, Are they meant to be like that on the AU's??? I'm just thinking the ISC could be dirty as and could just need a clean or would you suggest replacement?

The ecu is struggling to keep the car idling. It hasnt got enough vacuum .Isc may need a clean or the throttle body.Failing that change the plugs as this may also fix the issue.

This is a of a sympton, as there can be a multitude of causes. It could be plugs/ leads, fuel filter, oxy sensor, isc, tps, There are more causes but I'm done.

My EL died this morning - just completely shut down, and wouldn't restart. My AUs (all 5 of them) never did this. What could cause the problem?

I'll make the assumption you are taking the JC. Comparing one vague symptom, which could be the result of one or more of many problems, with another.

It's more than liekly the TFS/TFI module on the dissy, same as the AU2 above's issue is more than likely the ISC, but in both cases, it could be anything else electrical that has to do with the spark and idle control of the motor.

I'll clean the ISC, can you use WD40 to clean it out??? Carby cleaner would be a better option but he says he's got no cash. A fordmods tutorial recommended WD40 and I've beeb using it no probs on my ISC but I thought I'd double check with ya's

Ok seems to be almost fixed.
Cleaned the ISC and the air filter but it still does it, but it's reduced significantly. What else could be the cause? It makes a sucking noise a lot like a POD filter in the plastic bit of pipe just before it connects to the throttle body. Took it off and saw nothing down there. IS this normal? |

id say 1st up get some Nulon Throttle Body and Carby Cleaner.
its about $11. use it on the throttle body as the can recommends. this stuff is great, if it doesnt eliminate the problem, it will still give the throttle body a very good clean. as for the sucking sound at the throttle body, make sure the induction pipe is connected and fastened properly. since you have a few of these types of threads, do you have access to a video camera or a decent sound recorder? if so, it would make diagnosis a hell of a lot easier. also, check the engine and gearbox mounts. you describe the shaking as violent like an earthquake.....thats some serious shaking. possibly more than a sensor fault so check these 2 things just for peace of mind. |

Yeah thanks, I was thinking engine mounts but the car was roadworthied around 3 weeks ago so I thought they would've checked them? But i'll check anyway.
I'll clean the throttle body too and may as well do that on mine. Closest thing we have is a camera phone. |

check your vacuum lines, all of em. Go back to basic's AIR/FUEL/SPARK check everything is operating correctly, grab a Gregrory's manual, IF none of them determine your problem then look elsewhere or find a mechanic quicksmart
