Hey Guys,
just bought myself a set of king springs SL's and lowered monroe gt shocks, for my AU2 Fairmont Ghia. The question i have is will it require camber castor kits front and rear or just one or the other. Thanks Roders.

I changed the front springs on my AU III XR6 live axle and just changed the top control arms using BA XR type brackets. They have a longer bolt and have spacers designed to work with lower suspension heights. Cheaper than after market kits.

Would put one in the front myself, I have had a KMAC adjustable one in a previous car and it was great. Never had an alignment problem with it.

If this helps you at all, I have an AU3 live axle and installed some king lows all round about 6 weeks ago.
Ride heights at the front from the centre cap to the lip of the guard measured 380mm. After king lows were fitted it was 355mm. Rears 360mm before and 345mm after. It is duel fuel so there is a tank in the boot. Camber measured 0.8 degrees at the front before the drop. 1.4 degrees afterwards. I have brackets with the long bolts on the upper arms so stuck 6mm of shims to get it back to 0.8 degrees. It will increase your camber. If you dont adjust the camber, you can always run a little more toe in to make everything wear evenly, but I suppose there is a limit to how much you can do, before it starts becoming impractical. |

I bought TE 50 camber caster kit from ford, 1/2 the price of aftermarket ones.

You never know until you fit the springs and get the alignment done....For what it is worth, I have been able to get at least 1 degree of camber out of AU's factory control arms.
BA's have about the same length bolts as the AU arms.....The spacers (factory shims actually) that have been referred to are standard fitament on all AU through to FG Falcons (and earlier models)....Those shims are spot welded in place to take up the manufacturing differences which occur...So finding the right ones will be hit and miss. Summing up....Just have the dollars "just in case" you need a camber/caster kit.....99% of the time, they're not necessary...

You most likely won't need a camber kit.
In fact camber kits are nothing more than upper control arm brackets with longer studs and a pile of shims. Unless you're talking about the ratchet ones, which I would avoid anyway. Lowering increases negative camber, which is usually a good thing, within reason. If there's too much negative camber (more than 2deg), then you can add a couple of shims to the standard mounts and most likely get close enough. As someone else mentioned, just add frag more toe in, and all will be well.
