AU dual fueled

Hi All, I'm new here and hope you can give advice.
There is probably a thread on my subject in here already but here goes...

We have just put our 2001 AU Futura on LPG and was wondering if there has been been any problem areas to look out for? Is it advisable to still give it a run on Petrol every now and then as we did with our old falcon?

I have 2 AUs on LPG. I run each for 30-40 km's on petrol, per tank of gas.

yeah thats a good way to do it i'm told everyone says the exact same thing. if you don't run it on petrol every once in awhile you will have problems and you won't want to drive it anymore. i know people that have done this, but even in my old xf ran it on a few k's of petrol every week (letting it sit on the lines overnight) and a full tank of gas every week never once had an engine problem.

I was told by my gas mechanic just to warm it up to full temperature every time using petrol and then change to gas. I still works out to be about the same 30 - 40 klms that the others do per tank. Had my gas now for 3 years and no dramas.

Run gas as well and no probs....oh you mean't LPG....LOL.

Make sure the cars tune up is kept current or you can experience backfire and blow up the airbox...

I run 20-25 litres of petrol through her wagon about every 3rd or 4th tank of gas. It's not an exact timetable just whenever the gas runs out near the end of the month and I happen to be driving. I'll tell her to run down the petrol till payday or 30kms on the DTE before refilling then put gas and fresh petrol in to about half a tank on the guage. The fairlane is the same; every 3 or 4 tanks I run the petrol out and put fresh in. Just make sure the services are kept up to date to avaid the backfire problem.

Mechanic said to bring car back after we've run 3-4 full tanks LPG through and it'll take about a 5 min for a retune service on Laptop. We will keep up with services from then on but will keep DTE above 8o k's as the wife worries when anything beeps (lol).

what system are you running? lots of good hints and tips for LPG vehicles can be found in the LPG section of the forums including hints and tips to prevent backfiring, how to look after your duel fuel car, average milage, etc etc. there are fitters (including myself) that frequent that section, so you can be assured any questions you have can be answered fairly quickly and as accurately as possible on line without seeing the vehicle.
