Default ANZAC Dollar

There is a fair bit of talk in NZ at the moment about the idea of Australia and NZ combining for a ANZAC dollar like the Euro, it seems fairly 50/50 from what I can tell. I'm curious as to what members think.

Please all national pride and lame jokes aside, what do you think?

No thanks. The Aussie dollar is worth more than the NZD. Makes holidaying in NZ cheaper. hehe

In actual fact you will find that it would be called the "Zac" not ANZAC, seeing as the latter has other meanings.

Was all over the radio this afternoon.

Zealand Australian Currency.

4.1 million New Zealanders (of which 1 million live here and use the Aus $$ anyway) and 20.2 million Aussies.. The Euro standardised over 300 million people.. Geographically it is pointless too..We trade with each other yes, but it is no where near as complex as European trade agreements where there are 15 or 20 odd countries, not just two ... Pointless...

Kiwi's have a strong sense of self identity. I can't see this one getting up. But if they keep loosing cricket match's like the last one, anything is possible.

Pointless. If we shared a border then it wouldn't be such a bad idea, but being separated by so much water, I don't see what good it would bring.

wouldn't NZ be better off becoming another state of AUSTRALIA?

The only thing that would even remotely make sense would be for NZD to be dropped and AUD to become standard. But neither will happen so hey.

Excuse me but people who are fond of Centrelink payments mostly smoke Horizon, Longbeach or the old favourite, White Ox.

NZ could adopt A$ if it appeals to them because I haven't even heard about this on our news which means that Aussies aren't interested in a new currency.

I don't really see this as a bad thing, considering the Close ties of both countries already.

So you just knock stuff off for two years? I see your point, if we reduced the waiting period we could really cut back on home invasions and armed hold-ups.
