Default Compressing Springs

I have a set of tickford springs for my car but want it lower still, what should it cost to have the springs compressed? anyone done this before on their AU and how did it ride with compressed springs?

Cheers

New springs are like $240 new all round, and are often available second hand for $100-$150 for 4. Given that you'd sell your Ticky's for $50 or maybe more, why bother?

I think its best you buy a set of springs designed for the height your after. At first, ride quality may not bother you...but it eventually will

ultra's aren't low enough tho, the guard still sits above the tyre...what would be the point of lowering it if it just looks the same.lol.anyone have pics of there car side on with ultra's, dont worry about pics of SL or L springs as they are still 4x4 hight.

Are you going to get a different set of rims?

If you are, and plan on getting a larger size, ultra's will do the trick.

TTF have quoted me 400 to lower the car to any height. (non dodgy).

If you want lower than ultras, personally I'd buy ultras and then cut them.

Actually, there just as bad, if not worse.

Compressing the springs weakens them, just chop it. Or theres a place in SA that does custom springs, there about $150 a set. Aurora or something like that.

Your talking about the placed that was called "industrial springs". Yes they can make a brand new spring to suit ANY height for you. I hevent been there for 10 years but I know they were cheaper than any brand named spring supplier. I knew that if you werent happy with the height of the spring you could take it back to be reset to a lower height for about $50 a pair.

It is just as bad. Spend the money and do it properly, a set of Kings in low or superlow is only $150 per end. If you want lower than ultralow I'd suggest you start dragging your bum along the ground now to get used to it.

Compressed is just as bad, if not worse IMO.

I'm guessing your basing your experience on stock springs with numerous coils lopped off, combined with stock/shagged shocks? If so, try it in a car with shocks suited to lowered springs, and lowered springs with only a little removed.

I'm not advocating chopped springs, but if you think compressed is any better you're dreaming IMO.

Buy some ultras, chuck them in, and if it's still not low enough, cut a coil.

Any car this low will ride, handle and generally drive like crap though so don't think any spring whether it be made that low, cut or compressed is gonna drive well.

just take the springs out and run on the bumpstops, if that's still too high then you have problems...

That doesn't sound right - Kings can be inconsistent, but that height sounds more like lows or supers.

my 18's on SL's sit just below guard, i would asume SSL's would be flush. And ultra's arent tucking the wheels up in the guard.... You sure your mates are ultra lows?

Sorry mate, I did it all myself. Cost approx. $250 for a set of SSL springs and $425 for shocks.
