Hey guys
Ive got a series II off road racing car. Long story short, i can only get rally tyres in 15", but when i put 15" rims on the car, i get a horrible grinding noise at full lock and it seems to be digging into the inside of the rims. Should this happen? Or is it that 15" just wont fit on a SII?

15" foul on the SII brake calipers, hence the reason Ford went to 16" for SII onwards.

Your best bet is puttin on some s1 brakes, then getting the dba aftermarket replacement, then put your 15" s on.
Anyhows, there should be at least one person on here wanting to swap their s1 brakes for a s2. |

the brakes move with the wheels so it is not the brakes fowling if the brakes did not fit they would rub all the time or you would not even fit the wheels on. your wheels are obviously rubbing on the body or sush. somewhere so look for the rub marks and modify

Is it only a matter of changing the up rights to change from a s1 to sII?

the wheel is hitting on the caliper... simple... the 2 pot SII units are bigger.. You can still fit the wheel, just, once it rotates though you will get the scrapping noise. Yes , easiest way to change is find someone with a S1 that wants the better brakes and do a complete changeover

Is this a space saver spare? Or a 15" steelie?

Lol, so if you get a flat on the front, you have to take off your back tyre, put that on the front and put the spare on the back? Lame...
Anyone got any 15" steelies lying around that they want to get rid of? Or some decent 15" rims?

I know they're not sposed to fit, but I've seen a few Series II Falcons getting around with the same 15" Series I Futura alloys that I have. A few ex-taxi's that have put on a cheap set of alloys instead of keeping the steelies. Perhaps some wheels will just fit without hitting the calipers.

Hmmm.. I wonder if maybe they've done a dodgy file job on the calipers or something.

Yeah me too, and its still possible thats what I saw, but this would have been a decent conversion. Front end, rear bar, side skirts, tail lights and as it seems to be parked outside my favourite curry place all the time, I can see that its the series II dash centre.
Its owned by an Indian guy who runs a few cabs here in Wynnum. Just as a side note, the 15" wheels look weird with all the series II gear, the wheels look too small. I think you need to have 16's to go with the more bold looking body enhancements made to the series II.

Yeah well it probably is an AUII then broken suave
We had a 2002 AUIII wagon as a cab still getting around bris in early 2008 and it had an AU1 front on it (off a dead cab). Boy oh boy did we get lots of people telling us that there's no way you can run an AU1 any more. It was an AUIII!
