Me too, I was wondering if it was to do with threads linking to other forums and certain E-series pot stirrers in particular ? Forgot that there are other things to do when the Forum goes down

When we have a database crash the indices that control the threads and posts are corrupted and our only option to fix that is a database repair.
Unfortunately the repair process typically removes any records that are incomplete or corrupted and I noticed last night (well this morning) when doing the repair that it was finding a lot of bad threads. We have the option of restoring them from the back up but this introduces a whole other pile of potential problems as new threads created today will be taking the same numbers as those that have disappeared and we would have to shut the forum down to upload the missing threads and give them new thread id's as we did so. It is feasible but it won't be fun. Cheers Russ

Meh, for the sake of the time invovled in restoring the threads in question, they can be started again as required.
Clearing these threads out I dare say will solve future issues with the database.

I have fixed BlackLS' account and emailed him accordingly. It might need a password reset.

Ok. We have identified the root cause of the strange happening for some users - it has affected all those users who joined in the period since the last crash because they had user ID's that were out of number sequence by a substantial amount. This included OFC~EL as his old account was merged with his new one.
All of those users (and there are about 600 of them) have member ID's that do not match the ID's in the subsidiary tables and thus the information from those tables is not displayed. These include avatars, titles etc. etc. We have formulated a plan of attack to fix these issues later this evening but in the interim these accounts will not display correctly. Cheers Russ

Hi Mark
We are about to import the fixes into the database in the next half hour - this should resolve those issues for the users with unlinked ID's. Those with normal corruption of their ID's will need to email admin@fordforums.com.au so that we can reset the accounts. Cheers Russ

The user records that were earlier identified as out of sync have been updated - thanks to plext for the methodology & code and thanks also to those who have waited patiently for the fixes.
Some individual user accounts are still corrupted but we will fix those as we find them. We have turned on extended logging for the forum which may slow things down a tiny amount but it will enable us to get a better picture of what is actually going on that has caused these two crashes. Cheers Russ
