Humans to live and breed to 100 within 50 years.

Interesting article I came across today whilst reading the news - UK newspaper quoting the latest New Scientist magazine:

In just 50 years' time, we'll live healthily to 100, thanks to full body transplants and a vegetarian diet, leading scientists predict.

Asked to forecast the biggest scientific breakthroughs of the next 50 years, they said the development of anti-aging drugs will allow us to live to a sprightly 100.

Professor Richard Miller, of the University of Michigan, said: 'It is now routine in laboratory mammals to extend lifespan by about 40 per cent.

'Turning on the same protective system in humans should, by 2056, create the first class of centenarians who are as vigorous and productive as today's run-of-the-mill sexagenarians.'

Advances in storing both eggs and ovarian tissue will allow women to give birth into old age, while technology that allows us to read the minds of animals will lead to mass vegetarianism.

New Scientist magazine's 50th birthday issue also predicts whole body transplants will be routine within just 50 years.

I cant stand when people cook things like "vegetarian lasagne", or the like, it's not lasagne without meat!

Personally I think in a world which is already vastly overpopulated the last thing we need is the breeding age to be extended by 50 years.

lol I was thinking of the implications of this. Good ones would be that you could say transfer into a Arnold Swartzenegger. Bad ones would be that your crazy ex stalker girlfriend could get a new body, and get back with you and you would never know until its too late.

I think it's almost starting to play 'God' too much.. I also agree with the point that there's enough people on this planet wasting it's recources as it is, and I don't think i'd want to be around to see my great great grandchild grow up =/
