Default Hump Day Update

Well, today was hump day, 2 1/2 weeks till we head home. I thought I'd be a bit different this time and post a few photos.
We went to Yosemite National park last Saturday ( about a 700 Km round trip ) The scenery is absolutely awesome, we dont have mountains like they have over here. The valley floor is about 4000 feet and the mountains go up to about 9000 feet (1200 metres and 2900 metres respectively) On the way out we climbed to 6000 feet and there was plenty of deep snow about. The snow is just starting to melt and they had quite significant falls last week, luckily we had a few fine days so all the roads were open. It's quite an interesting drive west as once you climb over the hills there is a 160 Km wide plain that is dead flat and most of which is irrigated from the mountains. Kind of reminds me of the Liverpool plains in NSW near Gunnedah and Moree. Once you hit the foothills though, it's uphill all the way.

This is a picture of the valley, people climb the rock face, it takes two days with an overnight stay on the cliff.

And here is one of the waterfalls, this one drops a copule of thousand feet, those are pretty big trees at the top, its a long way up.

This one was taken as we were leaving, you can just make out the road into the valley cutting across the centre of the picture.

The mighty Pontiac at 6000 Ft

When we were in San Francisco the other week we took a photo of the train we had just left, automatic rifle anyone?

Catch You later, sorry about the wide photo but it just dosen't have the same impact at the small size.

Regards,
Tote

Ah crap, modern technology, I'll try photobucket next time, it's nearly midnight here and I'm a bit braindead to fix it properly.
