Now on in Brisbane ABC2 - Late Night Legends - 71/72 Touring Car Championship at Warwick Farm.

At the mo, Bond (XU1) leads Moffatt (GTHO) then Chivas (Charger) then Brock XU1.

Lap 3 Moffatt breaks the lap record...

If you've never seen these cars in action, tune in...

Close but no cigar.

Chivas then Leo Geoghan (Charger) with Moffatt 3rd due to a shredded rear tyre.

Bond and Brock retired.

Reminds me of the good old days... many a time my mates and I would be out tomcatting all night then home at 5am for a shower and change of clothes and off to Warwick Farm for the car races...

Hungover, sunburnt, dehydrated... what a life ;)

It's worth keeping an eye on LNLs. Got some Thommo and Lilley a few nights ago.
That was tempered a night later with Viv Richards smacking us around (Richards or Gilchrist as the biggest hitter? I'd say Richards...)

Used to get to Oran Pk and Amaroo as well.
I had a Cooper S for a while and had a mate who had access to Oran Park (he had an Anglia with a twin cam escort donk). Every now and then we'd chase each other around OP.

As for the "good old days" I guess in 20 years we'll be calling these the good old days, lol.

I watched that race the other night at "Warwick Farm". Damn those things were quick. Didn't take long for the front runners to pull a gap either.

These were replays from last November and tonight there is 1979 Around Australia Reliabilty Trials..... Have got about 20 hours of footage from the last series on DVD - now thats what you call racing.

Never been into bikes much but they had 1984 Swann International Series on last year and this was SENSATIONAL..... 3 rounds on consectutive weekends, one in Surfers Paradise (airport), NSW and the Calder.

Late on ABC2 most nights. You have to have digital to watch it as it is one of those extra channels you get.

damn. i missed it, I'll have to keep an eye out more often on that channel, some great stuff on there.

i was watching the 1966 rugby league match between Australia and Great Britian on ABC2 the other night. there seemed to be no tackle limit and head high seemed to be the way to the tackle. scrums where all over the place and they had to feed into the scrum directly into the middle, it was great entertainment.

there was no 10 metre rule, it was 3 yard rule, which looked like it wasn't enforced. and Try's were awarded 3 points and conversion's were 3 points aswell.
