I prefer the ice cream machine. Its more hygienic. Some people will leave all sorts of crap in ice cream tubs after they get a scoop. Not to mention you can make soft serve towers with the machine :P

In Dubbo its the "Railway Bowling club" and the express restaurant. Where MSG and seafood that has not being in the sea for many months reign supreme.

BTW when are we going next???

I do remember going to Sophia's (Sp?) at Prestons when I was in Melbourne last.
Bloody hell they have massive servings ... the food was bloody good too.
Some of the Sydney guys and attest to that

Man Smorgy's was good when young.. Then I either grew taste buds or the quality took a holiday (or both).. It was still good for the donuts though, man that was awesome. I used to go to the Ringy one when I was young but it's closed down now :(

PS. The soft serve machine also went cra.pola in it's final years =/

Completely agree, the one in Geelong has gone downhill, to the point where I tell people not to go.

Even that seal thing is falling apart, and wasn't even working last time I went, which was ages ago.

And the food is terrible. Id rather spend $20-30 on a nice main somewhere than have to force that garbage down my throat.

Ice cream machines are sooo gross - the only time I have ever got food poisening was when I ate an ice cream from one of those machines.

Another time we were at Pizza Hut and witnessed little cockroaches crawling in and out of the ice cream machine nozzle (my mate still had an icecream though!) Couple of months later the machine was gone and we asked some one we knew that worked there why and they said it was too unhygenic and was always infested with roaches!

I have been to Foodstar at Frankston! and survided the chinese food. It was recommended to me by the "conceirge" at the local Motel down the road. Its funny when you go away and don't realise you are staying in a bogan area until you get there. My other stays were, Geelong, Dandenong and Sunshine! Dandenong is the Melbourne equivalent of where I live in Sydney, BLACK-TOWN!!!

There's one in Mermaid Beach, QLD (next suburb down from Broadbeach).

Next time you're on the Gold Coast, go there!

Though, I went to it when I first got to QLD and I was so disappointed, cos my memories of Sizzler were so good I guess I was expecting too much

There are still a few about. One in Myer Centre in Brisbane. One in Toowoomba. One in Townsville If I remember correctly.
There used to be one in Darwin, but it closed.

I dont think we have Smorgy's in SA, and it sounds like I would be glad about that. We did have Sizzler for a while though. That wasnt too bad. When I was a kid. For the moment, I prefer a good Thai, Indian or Italian place or a really good pub meal. Im just over cheap and nasty, over processed food even though it often comes with a free serve of Salmonella....
