Default Been looking at Escorts.

Hey guys

I currently have a VC Commodore 202 auto. About 80 bucks for 350kms.

I can afford it but i want something with more poke for that sorta fuel econ.

I was thinking about getting a 2litre escort doing it up a bit. How quick can i get these things going. Would like to be able to beat commodores atleast. How easy is this to achive?

Maybe get an old RS2000 or something i want lsd and that..

Glenn

escorts dont have much room or comforts
best sit in a few and take them for a test drive

parts are not too expensive plenty around

as to how fast ..thats up to you

15 seconds or a low 16 would be good?

The biggest downfall of the mk2 escort is rust, if you can find one without rust then grab it.

Not sure of numbers but I loved driving my 2litre eskys.... small ballsy rwd.
Theres a bit of room for mods as far as engine and drivetrain goes..... you can leave it NA and bolt on a couple of down/side draught carbys or install an injected turbo.

My favourite esky was my Yellow 2 door with round headlights and rally kit.

RS2000's don't come with LSD. Stock RS2000 will do the 1/4 in 17.8s (wheels 1979). Also an Australian RS2000 is mechanically identicle to any other 2L Escort. A worked (Fast road) Escort 2L will do High 15s to low 16s with a standard diff. Lower diff will see you in the low 15's.

I have a Mk1 2 door escort in the driveway that my mate and I did a 2ltr conversion on. Before I sold my XR6T, we ran the 2 cars and the Esky kept right up to the XR6T. So what's that .... 14.4 quater and 6.3 sec for the 0-100. The 2 ltr is a stock cortina engine with extractors - that's it.

I think your XR6T was a bit sick then.

Escort is very nice.....
XR6T was stocky but did the business when it lined up against it's natural enemies....
