DJR, so there are at least a couple of people doing the rounds looking for men overboard? I sometimes wandered the deck at nights and you'd be lucky to see anyone around. I guess you'd be in a bit of a pickle if you went overboard in the middle of the night when the sea is choppy.

Actually the guys on the bridge are looking ahead! There is no-one specifcally looking aft for people overboard. On a cruiseship it would be very rare for someone to fall overboard and not be seen, as travellers are usually with some one, plus with the number of passengers around it is unlikely. Unlikely but certainly possible!!

you do have security walking around the ship, but they are focussed on things taking place onboard, not over the side!!!

have a look at a plan of the REAL largest cruiseship in the world

Personally because of the lack of an AFT lookout, I'm not too keen on cruise ships. lol

I thought Leonardo di Caprio was the aft MOB watch - or is that only for Kate Winslett?

I actually kinda regret not going back to see the QE2 come in. Would have been great to see the QE2 and QM2 pipe each other.

yeah she's pretty small boat. I recon a fiesta could tow it. Mind the bridge clearance though:

from news.com.au

This one is amazing - QE2 foreground, QM2 background. Tied up at the wharf are two of our Adelaide class frigates - those small long grey things. IE QE2 and QM2 are big.
