People have seen it, if you try the other orion thread or do a simple search. It may or may not mention it's an artists impression - but i assure you it is.

Happy reading.

I still have the wheels Mags with the artist's impressions of the AU and they look nothing like what Ford built.

Is anyone disillusioned by alot of the modern car designs? I know these pics are not of the Orion and that they are just CGI, but I just think that in the past few years car designs have gone a little askew......VE is OK but a little bland, Focus hatch in XR5 form looks cool, but the stock focus sedan looks out of proportion. Man I even think the AU is better looking than what's coming out lately...very unimaginative.

I wouldn't mind a lot of family resemblance. The Mondeo is a smart looking car. The Falcon doesn't have to look like Mondeo, or like what is in the pic, but to me having family resemblance to Focus/Mondeo means it will stand a better chance of being recognised in export markets.

Give that some serious thought. Without exports, Ford will be in ****. In fact the last few years of 'we don't need exports to survive' now appear to be quite short sighted.

Wheels has had "artists impressions" going for years now and occasionally they get some lines and minor details similar, but I would not take their impressions as gospel. As xcglx wrote, Wheels/Motor has the next Falcon (aka AU) looking like a Ford Tourus (fingers in mouth) that came out of the same jelly mould containers as the VT.

History states that they got it wrong. Au was ahead of it's time and still looks "modern" compared to VT,VX,VY,VZ and anything TOYota has produced.

On a tangent here, but my belief is that the AU "failed" because FordAU had no other product in it's lineup that had similar styling. As much as it might hurt Falcon sales to bring in the Mondeo, the styling will compliment and bounce off eachother to create brand continuity.

Of course this is my opinion and not reflective of Ford, but wouldn't it be sweet if I were right? Much brag points at the pub!!! :

hmm...I think the AU 'failed' because the styling was wrong for the time. I know a lot of people get sensitive about the AU, but when compared to the opposition of the time, it just polarised people. Ford obviously had blinkers on. But I will give them credit for having the balls to do something different.

Coming from the UK, the name 'Ford Orion' gives me shivers down the spine, as this was the name given to the drab booted Escort 1300/1600cc models from 1983 to 1996... the name finally killed off when Ford simply started to call it 'Escort Saloon'...

Keep the Falcon name please!!

Settle it has been said before and will probably need to be said again, the name "Orion" is just the code name for the next generation "FALCON" as Barra was for BA as Blackwood was for XD etc.

It would have been funny if Ford changed the name Falcon to Blackwood at the same time as Holden had the Kingswood. They could have made a series called "Blackwood Country"!

*in the context that that design DOES go ahead, i know its only CGI*
haha well looks like more and more car companies are 'ruining' their cars..

the VE i have to grow to, the new liberty's rear end is bad (front looks crazy mean), and this? what the?

what i loved about the VY and VZ was they were beefy looking machines.. the BA and BF too.. they just had class and style to them..

now the VE just looks mad random, the HSV models look the sex, the SS is alright..

but if Ford followed in their footsteps, and followed with this whole "modern" design ways car companies are going down the path of, itll so ruin it!

I reckon Ford got the shapes released in the wrong order. IMO the AU is a more "modern" shape than the BA. If BA had come after EL, and AU after BA, Ford would have had a more evolutionary series.

AU was just too far out of left field for the time. Bonnets and grilles on the low series Series 1s didn't help either. SII/IIIs still look pretty snappy today.

Considering that this picture is in the public eye now and is linked to Victoria, can anyone "in the know" dispel the notion that it is indeed (as one poster claims) a Falcon please before this gets ugly.

JEM or anyone else perhaps.

Check the "Orion Knowledge Hub" and the "Ford Mules in the Alice"
Jem has already Said that Hot Weather Testing for Falcon had not begun yet when these photos were taken- It appears to be the Next Ssang Yong Chairman.
This is not the Falcon.

Now PLEASE...the photos have already been posted. Three time over now by My count. Keep all discussion in the Thread made specifically for all things Orion. Its there for this very reason.

Sure I'm radical but I think car manufacturers have really lost it. Ford canned steve park because of the AU (I think) but anything from XR up on AU is a lovely looking package with a little muscle in the body

With what's been coming out in the last four years, I've held onto my AU XR and won't be selling it no matter what.
Yes ford is a family car company but surely family cars don't have to be a box on wheels. I'm sure most if not all of us want something that looks powerful, tough and muscular but still has the interior space, sharp handling, comfy ride and reliable motoring. The XA to XC sedans and coupe's, EB and EL GT, AU XR, T Series and BA-BF FPV vehicles are my favourites and I hoped that the future falcons would retain that style.

These days cars seem to look the same in alot of areas, nothing revolutionary styling wise is happening and they seem to be getting heavier and smaller

Maybe all of them are scared of building a car or cars that are too far ahead of their time. AU forte package
Get rid of steel wheels and have mags standard.

Its the 21st century man. Back in the 80's as a teenager I thought by 2005- 2010 most of the cars would have gull wing doors and knight rider like instrument cluster and maybe be running electric or another source of fuel.

Maybe get scott strong back. What he did with AU II XR series was cool.
I dig that front end.

The MG-Rover guys say its a picture of a new Roewe AGAIN, so I'd guess its probably a Roewe (Chinese version of Rover). No way in the world its a Falcon.

Only connection is that Ford bought the Rover brand last year. so the Chinese crowd that bought the copyright to the Rover 25 and 75 had to call them something else.

Those "exposed" pictures look interesting but I am glad that will not be the Orion.

I want the new Falcon to remain unique in all aspects to the Commodore and continue to be a leader in safety, brakes, 6-cylinder motors, comfort and handling.

Those pictures to me simply showed Falcon fitting in with everybody else. Not good enough for me.

I want the new Falcon to raise the bar above the VE and make the VE look like an outdated piece of donkey poo.
