Isn't it amazing that they got the car from 261 to 272kW and lost a few tenths off the 0-100km/h time (4.5 vs 4.3 for the standard car). No change to top speed either, 300km/h.

Goes to show how perfectly setup these cars are from the factory, when tuners actually make them... well, not faster?

That's like that new twin supercharged Novitec Ferrari F430 thing... 636hp up from the standard car's 482hp... loses a tenth hitting 100km/h (3.5 vs 3.6). Not sure about the 1/4 times, but they're something stupidly close too....

Yes, but you need to know how to drive, Aussies need not apply.

Why is it that police forces around the globe get off on getting a cop car all done up and show it off - its just a marketing stunt, the same as how they rolled 12 red F6 Typhoons out for the NSW Police during easter.

It'll still be a normal XR6/8 which catches you, the fancy ones are off doing photo-shoots. Awesome use of taxpayer money I say.

Unless both times were run back to back with the same driver its not a fair comparision. Driver alone will change 0-100km/h time considerably.

I wanna know who will be the first country to use a Veyron as a highway patrol car.

Driver alone in a car where the driver does pretty much nothing? Turn on the launch control, floor brake and accelerator, car will prime and set itself at the optimum revs... let go of brake and its done.... the driver's pretty much just flooring a pedal there...

WTF??...In Suahili, perhaps....not in German, mate...used Babblefish???

....911 Cop cars are the exception....they usually drive Mercs or VW Passats on the Autobahn - a 911 is dispatched in an extreme emergency.

German Police chasing a car on the Autobahn is also the exception - we dont play those US games when travelling far above 200kmh. When needed, the Autobahn is simply shut down at the next exit - Traffic stops, so must the suspect.

Oh, and German cops do NOT leave an escape gap (like the US Cops).

Just had another look at the official porsche figures and. A stock car does 0-100 in 4.6s and has a top speed of 293km/h. So it is in fact quicker.

The claims are conservative. Porsche claims have always been conservative. The Carrera S has been tested to 3.9 sec 0-60mph (which translates to approx. 4.2-4.3 0-100km/h) by one of the US mags, I *think* Car & Driver, but I'm not 100% sure. This was when comparing it to the C6 Corvette.

Just the same as Motortrend hit 60mph in 3.2 sec on an icey runway in the new 911 Turbo... Porsche claims 3.7s (3.9 to 100km/h).

Just watched a show on Foxtel last night called Autobahn. It was awesome. They showed how the Autobahn is made, maintained and operated right from road crews right through to emergency response teams that are strategically located so they can be anywhere in 15mins. They even have a truck with brushes on it that cleans the white posts!!! The Polizei use these high performance cars as they need to keep up with all the high performance vehicles on the autobahn. Apparently only 2/3 of the road is open speed limits.

For anyone that has Foxtel, it is on again at 2pm today on Nat Geo. Very well worth watching, hopefully they'll repeat it again soon but nothing is listed for the next week.
