AU fairmonts are not drag race cars you know.

Stock they will run 16.4 odd at around 86mph.

Take it to the track and don't bother trying to impress us with hand timed street race stuff.

what makes you think i was trying to impress any one?
the reason i showed that clip was because i wanted to show(show not impress) use that if a standerd fairmont au is capeable of high 15 or low 16 mark with a full load, then mine with lsd and irs should do better but i was unaware that irs weighed soo much.

no, its because the Falcon is a 4 door saloon designed to Aust conditions and requirements of a "Family" vehicle. It isnt built to drag race against WRX's or Supra's.. although it does do very well. Its all about the requirements of the car and what its designed for.

Don't believe me? Pick any Japanese mainstream car.. I'm not fussed which one. I'll choose either a TE50 or a GT.. or even an F6. I'll let you choose which one for me. Now we can line them up and do a standing 1/4 mile. Only catch is that its under "Australian conditions". That means 5 adults, luggage and a 2 tonne boat on a trailer on the rear. Thats what these cars were meant to do and there is nothing from Japan that would even come close.

If you just want straight out performance..apples with apples.. I'm sure a GT40 will match up. Its a Ford.. and was built for performance. Its built to compare.

Good luck then mate glad you are really going to give it a proper run on a track.

Its very different from street racing which we really can't recommend.

let us all know how you go

I personally think this thread needs to die. And the clunk would be backlash in your diff I'd say, plus cars don't like doing burnouts often. Please keep that in mind mate.

if it's vibrating it's probably a bearing has died, get it looked at, or replace the bearings....either that or check the wheel balance, it could be out of balance

I'd strongly recommend not stressing the car at the drags unless you are 100% sure the car is in good running order. If there is a questionable vibration, dont run it. At the end of the 1/4 you will be doing close to 150kph, something going wrong at that speed can get pretty ugly very quickly.
Get the problem checked and resolved and then run it. Calder isnt going anywhere.

my AU forte series 1 did 15.7 into a big headwind on a 30 odd degree day with a catback exhaust and JMM CAI. That was at the last AFF drag nationals. So on a good day a 15.9 should be possible. You never know, cold night, tailwind.

A forte is lighter than a fairmont.

race when the car is fixed... if its vibrating its not healthy... and its not worth risking it all just for a run.
