I'll most likely get a PS3 when GT5 comes out and get GTA4 at the same time.

Ok i have to admit i havent fully supported the PS3, but after seeing a streaming video of a lotus driving around a track in GRAN TURISMO HD CONCEPT which u can find in the link below, i have to say i havent seen any of the 360's driving games to match that (if there is i'd like to see it please). A flaw ive noticed is that when the car is passing the trees, the car doesnt seem to get overshadowed by them, but that should be fixed in the final version...
just click on the play button on the page (first one is actual gameplay where as the 2nd is just a replay) http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/775/775420p1.html |

The price is obviously justified and each ps3 sale that sony makes loses money anyway, they depend on game sales to make the cash, not console sales.

Got a PS3 on launch night. Was quite weird going into the store with hardly anybody there. Very sombre event. Maybe because not that many people can afford to spend $1000 on a games console... but it is much more than that.
The PS3 is awesome! The PS3 is very easy to use and has heaps of features. Been playing Formula One Championship Edition on it for the past few hrs online and its really good fun. It's ultra realisitc (to the point that you have to warm your tyres up at the parade lap [burnouts, swerving side to side to warm fronts, etc] and they change in temperature and this effects your grip throughout the race). Also got motorstorm which is good fun with the six-axis controller. I downloaded Gran Turismo HD Concept and the cars in this in replay mode look life like!! The details are incredible right down to the driver getting his hands exactly right for the steering angle of the car and sometimes getting them crossed up when drifiting around a corner a little too hard. Another cool thing is that all the games seem to be encoded in really high quality surround sound. The F1's especially sound realistic and it makes you feel like you are riding in the car. Tried a few Blu Ray dvds on it too (XMen The Last Stand and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and these look great in our movie room. We've got it set through an HD projector on a 110" screen. The clarity of the movies is awesome especially on close ups of peoples faces etc. Razor sharp. Im a little bit annoyed that GT4 doesn't work on it along with a few other older games of mine but they are fixing this with patches that are easily downloadable. Overall I reckon its well priced at $1000 considering what it can do.

A friend was silly enough to buy one came around my place with it had resistence (only good game out) ridge racer, call of duty 3 and vitua fighter absolute hunk of junk we were playing call of duty 3 on my 360 online after about 2 hours I'll never personally buy one as all my gaming is done online these days and sony has no hope of matching Xbox live especially with a free service (live is worth every cent) you get what you pay for and $1000 buys alot of kick *** online games for my 360 and besides I have always hated the playstation controller

I'll stick to the Wii for a while. If I do get something else as well it will probably be a 360 instead, as it has a superior online capability, at least for now.
There's also the possibility Blu-Ray may fizzle out like other Sony formats (Betacord, UMD etc...) so I am a little skeptical of it at this stage.

My mate got a PS3 yesterday. Went around to his house to play it last night.
The potential is there. The wireless contoller is horn. PSP compatibility and the PSP like set up is good. The fact that there is a 60GB harddrive is awesome! It's basically a home entertainment system all rolled in one. I asked if he could put videos on it (porn) and he said yes. We exchanged a smile, knowing what we were both thinking, as it couldn't be said aloud (missus's in the room). Everything about it is kick *** except... The game he got was Moto GP. It was pretty crap IMO. Graphics were O.K. but you still got things like slow loading time that wasn't smooth, glitching, walls that when you got close to them, you could see through (ah la Tomb Raider 1 on PS1) and just general **** that you would think they would have farked off by now. Could have just been the game though. I'll get one when they're $500 and GT5 (and other kick **** games) are available. |

I picked up a ps3 controller today and iv got to say it felt cheap. It was just way to light without the rumble. I mite pick one up for bluray when they come down to around $400. For now I will just stick with my 360. I cant wait for halo 3!!! the beta should be released soon on live through crackdown.

What's the point of just updating the PS2? In my eyes that's getting arrogant and lazy. Microsoft changed the look greatly over the original xbox, re-worked controls, got a greater range of games for launch etc. Sony seems to have done the opposite.. But a more powerful PS2 in a same looking setup with less games =/ |

The PS3 is the dreamcast of the `3rd` generation consoles.

dreamcast sux,i bought mine in 2000,next minute theres no games for it,wasted a good $500, and ps3 wont fold, ps4 has already been announced, and the ps2 is still outselling everything, and the psp is doing real well, sony can handle the ps3 not selling, unlike Sega.

To elaborate further
Dreamcast was one system that was truely before it's time, this was it's downfall, it's technology was infront of the norm at the time and people didn't see it's potential, it had to be mass marketed by xbox years later before console network gaming to actually take off. If the wii/360 cost the same as the ps3, what would you buy? If the ps3 cost the same as a wii/360, what would you buy? |

Yeh i reckon the Dreamcast was the best. Never got one back in HS so i decided to get one on ebay a couple of months ago (actually got 2, second one just for teh games that came with it). The number of original games that came from it made it the best 'games' machine of the PS2 GC XBOX era. Plus that controller was pretty unique too. Reason why it didnt do that well here in oz was cus of ozisoft (distributors) hardly advertised it. And the PS2 hype (about games with movie quality... tho im yet to see such quality) overshadowed the dreamcast. Graphics were comparable, and took the PS2 a couple of years to better that on DC. plus the fact that u can burn games on a disc and play it didnt help sega either. RIP DC... tho supposedly theres still games being developed for it, but most likely NTSC.
note to AU_Carlos88: go on ebay.... theres heaps of DC games selling for cheap ;) |
