i just bought an EL xr6 and the stock shift knob looks like its seen better days. was wondering if
a) its possible to change it to another after market one?
b) where i should look for one if it is possible?

You could get a Fairlane style knob? (leather + chrome button)

I'm not sure what it out there with regards to aftermarket auto knobs, but someone on Fordmods made a shifter that looked partway between a VT-VZ knob and a handbrake, looked pretty good!
