American. Although some of the English stuff i've seen is amazing, eg The Office and Coupling, you can't get better than seinfeld or the simpsons IMO

Seinfeld was utter Sh!t, How can you compare that with the likes of Monty python, the young ones, Only fools and horses, Father Ted or some of the standup genius like lenny henry, Billy, Chubby Brown and Tommy Cooper.

I voted English! Aussie is ok but no one can beat Mr. Bean and Monty Python

American - forget it.

Red Dwarf, while probably more sci-fi is also a favourite of mine.

I call them "British" more than English, as that part of the world makes great stuff.

In America, the jokes are not funny. In fact, the jokes suck.
I really enjoy Seinfeld, but it's more the interesting situations than anything. Seinfeld himself isn't overly funny.
Raymond just pulls faces and the father acts a jerk and his mother a meddling old cow.

Australian comedy though is great. I see Chasers as a breakthrough because they do what they want and couldn't give a rat's **** if they get sued or not. Full Frontal was taken down big time because some cry-baby sued them...

The Late Show was similar. Absolutely gratuitous and offensive, but that's what I really enjoyed watching. But we get people who watch TV just to find things to complain about, just like the Santa Fe commercial.

Thumbs up

British Comdey for me.

Porridge being my favorite....."I sees to my old lady, you know Isabel, I don't think I'm ever going to get over you. Looks like I'm gonna have to get up and go round". lol The first episode in Porridge is the best of the series. Hislop. lol

Other mentionables: Faulty Towers, The Young Ones, Some Mothers Do Have 'Em, Only Fools & Horses (Rodney you complete and utter plonker lol), The original few series of The Last Of The Summer Wine, Bottom.......

Australian is good too, like our Kiwi shows, better back "then". Comedy Company is classic and my favorite Aussie comedy, I also use to watch Hey Hey It's Saturday....that was awesome (what I remember) they use to have the doll that looked like Angus Young from AC/DC come up front and be a smart bugger. lol

The good old days, when the closest thing to reality TV was C*O*P*S.

I saw Hot Fuzz last night. ABSOLUTE CRACKUP, Highly recommended.

British humour at its best, even takes the **** out of big Hollywood cop movies.

American comedy movies normally have like 3 or 4 funny one-liners, this movie had it all the way through from start to finish.

My vote - the Brits have got this one.

Another vote for English comedies.

Red Dwarf, Brittas Empire, Black Books, Top Gear (though technically it's a car show, but there's enough funny bits in there....), BlackAdder, to name a few....

Very close to putting American, sorry but I'm a sucker for Chapelle and Bill Hicks.

However - I voted Australian, like has been said, D-Generation, Chasers, Micalleff - the list goes on.
But is my choice limited to what I've seen locally?

Wow , Forgot about those guy's ,they were nearly " Cult movies ", Up in Smoke , Still Smokin' , Being There , Next Movie , Nice Dreams . Wasn't too wrapped in the later stuff. Anyone who hasn't seen their movies , hire a Video or DVD , if you like "pot head" movies , you'll laugh your guts out .

Got the album " Los Cochinos @#!!* " with Up His Nose , Pedro and the Man , At The Drive-Inn , Cheborneck . Classis Line " Mmm , lucky we didn't step in it " . They did a couple of "parody" songs as well . Funny one was done to the Macarena .

But otherwise English/British & Aussie over American .

Love the music clip " Living Doll " with Cliff Richard and The Young Ones.

English: The Worst Week of my Life was on ABC for the last 2 months. It is the best ever comedy EVER! Benny Hill is very good to. American? Ugly Betty, um... nup, noting else!
Aussie: CWOE is a good show (Chaser's War on Everything). That's about it!

Different moods, different comedy.
Poms are tops, definately classics, Aussies are excellent, Yanks can be funny. Some old Sat night live videos are pretty good. it:
