Different engines. The Hilux/Prado is a 4 litre with less power. 179kw?

I can see the news headline now. "Police chase called off due to high speed of offender. Speeds of over 220km per hour clocked by police. Female of 30 years old arrested half an hour later. She claims she was just running late to pick up the kids from soccer lessons and was worried about their safety. Police let her off with a caution as she isn't one of those nasty car enthusiasts".

Looks like a possibility :
That would be scary as in a front wheel drive, torque steer like a beyotch

Dont quote me on this but i think in wheels, they ran a short piece saying the new corolla chasis can accept 4WD. And something bout a possible R32 competitor. But that seems like a bit of a stretch, and definately wouldnt be an in house trd project.

scary indeed

the price will kill these from selling like you'd part with 50K when you can mod a xr6t with that kinda cash

When's the last time you looked at prices???????????????????????????????

I went in and looked at an xr6T last week. I optioned it with leather, and 18's. Price including ORC came to $52,965!!!

What money is left for mods??????????? A K&N filter???

Seriously, as a people mover, and for what it is, it'll be great for the people who need it. Thats been the worst thing about toyota's range of people movers for so long, they have been wayyyyy under powered!
If you wanted something to cart the kids you either lived with a gutless tarago, or bought a cruiser.

Can't compare a 5 seat turbo performance sedan to a purpose built people mover. And 200kw............. yeah... and??? Anyone who's driven any of the quicker 6's like VE 195kw, BF2, aurion, camry, pathfinder, prado, 380, they all get up and go when you want them to, and climb hills and overtake rather effortlessly compared to older models, but they are hardly road going missiles, nor does the power make them unsafe or difficult to drive. I think it just increases the drivability. A Tarago with 8 adult passengers, fuel and some luggage would easily tip the 2.5 Tonne mark.

Sure does, I love the get up and go you get when you're in a V6 Prado... the problem is in stopping the damn thing though :P

3.5L v6 is same as IS350 o/s, Aurion, new KLUGER, new RAV and Tarago all run 6sp autos only, the 4.0L found in Hilux and Prado is completely diff engine with 175kw and 179kw respectively.

corolla sportivo is rumoured to have a hi po S/C verson of its 1.8L pumping about 180kw, but the NEW corolla has room for the 3.5L v6 and has been fitted and tested over seas, only time will tell

Dont count on that, i think the 4cyl ones feel like they have plenty of power, I am sure the 200kw version doesnt feel gutless
