Yeah I heard that..its a tough one.

But at the end of the day he could of just got his sponsors to make a custom glove, so I dont see it as an issue.

Using a baseball mit in the field would be something to sook about, but not this.

Sour grapes IMO.

So , are they also going to claim Rodney Marsh useing large slabs of steak inside his wicket keeping gloves illegal as well ??? This used to be the norm for Marshy back in the seventies and it was just accepted as his thing ! It was common knowledge that it saved his hands from bruising when D.K . Lillee and Jeff Thompson were bowling at him all day ! I dont see how a squash ball inside a batting glove could be construed (spl) as any different .

This is crap. Gilly probably had more of a confidence boost from the squash ball than anything else.

Typical Sri Lankan sooking. If he'd used a white squash ball they would have screamed racism as well

Nothing to it.

The ICC has dismissed the claim.

However..................

A certain bowler was bending his arm at the elbow by more than 15 deg's during his bowling action.

Is that legal ?

I thought there was a law against that ! Maybe it should be enforced.

The law has been changed TWICE to suit that one bowler, there is a certain delivery that is still illegal and banned but still bowled and continually takes wickets. Why? The subcontinent has voting control of the ICC. :togo:

We don't complain that Sri Lankan's play with one dirty hand and one clean hand - why would they complain about a squash ball.

Better purchase on the bat. Maybe a bit psychosomatic?

Like his coach points out, if he has of put some cotton wool and bandaids over it, like he had a blister, no one would have said a thing. :

Best way to look at it is, did he get 100 in every innings? I believe he played well below par up until the world cup final so it really had no effect. Some may argue it hindered his batting performance.

;)

I was reading somewhere the other day that Murulitheren (or how ever you spell it) recons the claims that Gilly cheated were stupid and it was just some Sri Lankan offical that said it and most of the team think there is nothing for Gilly to answer to.

Meh, he has been cleared of any wrong doing now so it doesn't realy matter any way.

I believe it was the MCC, not the ICC. Thus far the ICC has been quiet on the situation, but as they should really. It's a non-event.

It is humerous to hear all these half-baked theories about the ball being placed in the palm and it acting like a spring that propelled the ball much farther than normal, when in fact it was worn towards the side of the palm to stop the bat from turning in his hand and slicing the ball.

I had even read one account that this method was exactly the same as using a steroid. :
