OBSERVE AND OBEY dear reader the above.

Per above, ensure that a lamp; as an 'individual lamp' OR as a 'multi-function lamp assembly' bears this (E) mark, example (E13). (13 in this case means the item was complianced tested by an authority in Luxemborg).

Near the E mark will be 'numbers and letters' representing the lamps complianced function or functions and approval, under the world automotive stabdards harmonisation system.

Applies to BULBS too.

Consider E mark items as quality approval, naturally, some products will better suit you than other choices also bearing the E mark.

Front fog light compliance code: "B", example "02B", the 'B' is relevant here.

Driving-lamp compliance code: "R", example "HR", the "R" is relevant here. HR = halogen driving lamp.

Rear fog lamp: "F00"
Reversing lamp: "AR" etc and so on.

E marked PLUS 50 (etc) type bulbs are legal. If a bulb bears an E mark it is legal under ADR51, this is in turn our adoption of UNECE Regulation 37.

Some aftermarket taillights, example 'clear' types that bear compliance markings and are legal, BUT ensure that the product also has inbuilt reflex-reflector function, if not, you must then fit red reflectors or face defect.

I don't have the H pattern on my gearknob, but like just about every car from the 90s, 1st is in the top left, 2nd below that, etc. If you don't know where the gears are, then you shouldn't be driving a manual. The only difference between cars is the location of reverse, but it's easy enough to find.

Sometimes i wonder if the cops defect a car for the fun of it. My mate had his falcon defected last year, with the cops defecting his suspension (was lowered), battery (was in boot), engine (he had a pod filter), exhaust (was louder), stereo (he had subs) and seats (they were stock with seat covers!). He wasnt allowed to drive it so he booked it in for a roadworthy and then shaved a few millimetres off his bumpstops just be sure that travel wouldnt be an issue, that was all that he changed. Upon going to QLD transport the guys checked it all out and it was all fine, there was nothing wrong with the car in the first place.

Other than painting etc any mod done to my cars are done to enhance performance, comfort, handling or safety- modifying lights- if done incorrectly (see law) may result in a potentially fatal error being made by someone that you may not deem as "car savvy" as yourself mistaking your miscoloured lights- especially in poor visibility conditions such as tonight- some ******** with blue spotties nearly blinded us all on the way home- if he had made me crash and I had caught up with him, you can be sure that he would need pliers to extricate his blue lights from his rectum.

If you aren't sure whether a mod is illegal or not, it is easy to find out by asking the relevent authority in your state......I have performed various mods over the years on different cars, not once have they been deemed illegal as I made sure that I asked first.

Don't risk points/loss of licence over something as facile as ****ing blue lights.......

LOL in s.a atleast if you get defected for lights you go down to your local police station pay 21 bucks and they come inspect your car to ensure you removed/replaced the offending lights then off you go again. Anythign else and its off to regency for some **** ******* strip searches of your car for defects.

Hell, I remember a very very long time ago I was done for having clear indicators with orange globes fitted before this was amended, its was many many years ago in VIC.

Yep mate, well known, ya put 'em in and drive around with them on, expect a $77 fine sooner or later.
With some cars where the parkers are in the same light as the headlight, when the headlight is on you don't notice them, but idiots in 'luxs and the rest with parkers on the outside and headlights on the inside (i.e. seperate units) put them in.

Is the Momo knob different on the XR8? Mine has a stamped H pattern on the top.

Front position lights-white, amber permitted on vehicles made prior to 1972, iirc.
Headlights-white.
Side marker lights-amber or amber/red, with red visible to the rear.
Rear position lights/stoplights-red.
Reverse lights-white.
Rear number plate lights-white.
Any colour other then above is against the ADRs.

They look blue. And there's a blueish hue when they hit a white street sign. That's blue enough for me.

the rules harp on about no other lights other than the specified colors ie: headlight white , amber parkers etc can be omitted from any point of the vehicle.

My Ol XF Ghia has had the good ol 8 billiard ball for the last 14 years and never has had a mention.
Been pulled over many times over the years without to much hassle.
Been warned about how low on many occasions but never got hassled to much. Worst ive had was number plate light was out once so He followed me to servo and I replaced it and thanked him for letting me know.

below is Queensland Transport policy regarding fitment of neon lights:



Alternative lights

Additional lights fitted to motor vehicles and, in particular, alternative
lighting on dressed up vehicles with underbody lighting, such as neon
lights and ultra violet lights, are acceptable, subject to certain
conditions.

(TO(RUM-VSS)) allows lights not mentioned in the standards to be fitted in
addition to the required lights, whereas the former Traffic Regulation 1962
required specific approval, which was not often granted. lights that flash
or are white, red, yellow or blue are mentioned in the standards. However,
pink lights, for example are not mentioned and could, theoretically, be
fitted.

The use of blue lights are reserved for police vehicles in Queensland but
ambulances and fire engines in other states may use blue lights.

As such, additional underbody lighting such as neon lights and ultra violet
lights are acceptable provided the light omitted is not blue, yellow, red
or white. Of the last two, red lights must not be seen from the front
and white must not be seen from the rear. Other colors are acceptable as
long as they do not flash or dazzle another driver.

so as you can see that leaves pink, purple, green,orange, turquoise all rather gay colours.
