I'm half way through building myself a routed wooden track, like the commercial ones but only around 14m track length. Its easy to do if you're reasonably handy - there's heaps of instructions around the web - and loads cheaper than buying plastic track. I'll take some pics and post them up if you're interested.

Used to love going to the slot car tracks in Parramatta & Chester Hill. Long time ago now and I don't believe those 2 tracks exist any longer.
Agree, it was good fun back then.... |

I used to love my Scalextric. I lost interest a bit when they introduced magnets onto the bottom of the cars. They went faster, but were no way near as much fun. My favourites were a Ferrari GTO and a Porsche 959. Both very quick cars and loads of fun. Now my garage is full of real cars, I have nowhere to play :-(

There is a slot car track in Dandenong, its been there for 10 years or more, me and some of the mates drag race there every few months.
I use to mange the one in Boxhill Bob it was called Tom Thumb and there use to be ones in Springvale, Brunswick, Rosebud, Chadstone as well as two other one's in the city as well as a couple of others around Melbourne, but one of the biggest was one called the Power Station, it was in Northcote in an old power station funnily enough. |

I have a few in a box in the garage... a few flexies with super 16D motors and 2 wingies with group 20 motors in them, i used to get sub 3 second lap times at the old adelaide track but i blew one of them in a comp race in Dandenong.
The Dandenong track is here: Shop 3/111 Lonsdale Street (Princes Hwy) DANDENONG For an Aussie directory go here http://www.auslot.com/trackdir/index.php I used to be right into them, want the kids to enjoy them also, they are at the right age now so i might take them down to Dandy
