GOOD STUFF DEESUN. working in the ports i have been lucky enough to see some of these engines.they are 3 story's high i think they're rev range is something like 2rpm - 80rpm. the ships normally have about 5 smaller generator engines as well each about 1/5th the size of the main. equally impressive they produce enough electricity to supply the sydney cbd. thes things are incredible .good post

they start them with steam pressure. and they also crank an run in reverse . no gearboxes here direct drive through adog clutch

at 102rpm you would probably have to change the proppelor pitch now the ship would have some balls . imagine a container ship lifting its front out of the water and kicken *** ! ha ha ha
