Um, no they're not. It's a 100% Ford design, based on Ford underpinnings. It can't come soon enough to replace the horrid looking Escape.

Their are similatrities between the two. To say now that they look the same is way to pre-emptive. Like the orion you can't comment on it until you see it with out the camo

this link is the 'new' cx-9, not cx-7.
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...ode=CX9&bhcp=1 this link is the iosis x which apparently the new suv is based on. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/sp.../ford_suv.html they may not be sharing bodies but there is more similarities than just same number of wheels and doors. why shoot me down so rapidly. the new ranger and bt50 are the same also and has been done many times in the past. i agree it is a bit hasty to say they are the 'same' but i think the same rule applies to say they are not. too early to tell but enough similarities to speculate. |

I was of the impression that this was a development of the Focus/V50/Mazda3 Platform and would therefore share some DNA with the CX7 but more so with the future smaller Volvo X60 and Freelander than Mazda.
This should mean 2.5s and 3.2 I6 plus 2.0 TD Escape and Tribute will continue also and there are pics around of 08 models I thought CX9 used Mazda MPV(6) platform and Duratec 3.5V6 |
