Default Took the ghia down the 1/4 mile

Took my AU down the 1/4 mile at Heathcote today.
I can't believe the power it makes for a so called 175fwkw car.
I ran a 15.03 @ 95mph with just xr8 headers, twin 2 1/2" exhaust and xr8 snorkel (only spare tyre taken out). Just couldn't get any traction (Didn't want to smoke my new tyres).
The car really needs a shift kit, the auto changes are painfully slow.

Thats an awesome time, well done man. With the headers and the cat-back its probably more like a 190fwkw car.

What was your 60' time? That mph should be enough to get deep into the 14's...

The std xr8 headers are underrated IMO. Definitely get a (fully adjustable) shiftkit and use it whenever you are driving "spiritedly". It'll save the gearbox from heating up to much and causing problems.....feels much better too.

Was very happy with the result.
On LPG it ran a 15.5 @ 92mph (what I expected on petrol).

2.3s 60', just dumping the throttle in drive. It just lit up tyres when I tried stalling it up on a few runs.
Anyone got any take off tips (I'm used to a manual).

Great time. The shift kits don't necessarily speed up the shifts all that much; they just make them harsher.

Is that right?

I was going to get a service and a mech shift kit done while they were at it, so all if does is firm up the shift? Wont make any difference on the track?

The stock shifts can be firm enough...LOL

I doubt if this is possible for vapour. It might happen with liquid LPG eventually but will be a long way off. We still can't buy sequential liquid injection systems here yet.

Radical concept - same as petrol. Think of the charge cooling effect in a blown motor as the compressed air heats & evaporates the injected liquid...(sigh!)

Hey edi6 a better way of taking off is to stall it up to 1500 and then floor it on take off.It takes away alot of the wheelspin off the line because the torque convertor is loaded up and takes off smoother,i picked up a tenth doing this in my au v8 forte ,as opposed to having it idle and then flooring it because you get the slingshot effect from the convertor doing this and the wheels spin.Practice it on the street and you will see what i mean.I went from 15.01 to 14.90 with the different takeoff and with your mph you should do roughly 14.70 or thereabouts.

Looking at putting 1.7 ratio roller rockers on next month and I'll see what improvment they make.
