Default Tickford badging

I've had my XR8 for 6 months now and it's only just occurred to me that my side panel badging is different to all other XR8's. As in the pic, XR8 is on top, followed by the Tickford wings underneath. This is the same on both sides.

Can anyone shed any light on why or how my badging may have ended up around the 'wrong' way ?? used:

BTW thanx heaps for all the valuable info on this forum guys and gals !!

That's odd. I just had to look at pics of mine. I'd never have given it a 2nd thought if it wasn't pointed out.

some people also change badging to suit their personal preferences and taste. If you look at the symetry he seems to have gone for starting the XR8 the same distance in from the guard edge as the blinker light and then placed the wings under to give a base line or underlining statement and placed the wings with the red T in the middle of the XR8 and roughly half way between the blinker and the XR8.
Thats the way it looks to me , I think he was a fussy person who wanted to personalise it to his own tastes, I dont go with the Acco theory in this case.
Could be a thousand reasons but theres food for thought, cheers

Strange!

Mine is the same. Is yours an AUII or an AUII.5 (the upgrade that came late AUII colour coded mirror backs etc. like AUIII but still AUII)

However I know that the RHF guard has had some work but the left is original.

I don't have any explanation though.

Well that just makes it a bigger mystery, I've not seen any others like it. Mine is an AUII (May 01) I'm unaware of it's history as I bought it in Brisbane but it's service records are from Central NSW

I do like your theory howesy, I'm a big fan of symmetry and am pedantic about detail

I had to look at the pic back and forth a few times, but I can definitely see your logic!

Aint that the truth, it ****es me off so much to see how the badges were put on AU's from factory.Literally pick it up and slap it on and wherever it landed is wherever it stayed. Seen some real shockers.

Ive got the Tickford badges on mine but taken the XR8 ones off, looked a bit too busy with the Herrod badges on the skirts.

I think it looks quite smart rojo, theres a certain symmetry to it, as bt2f said the badges on my xr are a little wonky (and im pretty obssesive compulsive about stuff being spot on straight) arrgh!

Mine doesn't have any XR badges on the side. Just the Tickford ones. Good to keep the punters guessing.

I actually thought they used a template to put the badges on? It would make sense.

It looks too symmetrical to have been a repair job I think. It looks good, if it were me and I found it that way I would leave it.

In fact if you looked at the badging arangement of say, the ED XR's that is the way they are arranged.

As for templates and badge placement, there really wasn't any definitive formula, no two XR's are alike in terms of exact guard badge placement.

Absolutely Dark Horse, after seeing my badging every day, to me it seems perfectly normal to be like that. Makes it unique !!
