We have a Nissan Patrol 3.0 turbo Diesel ST-L model.
It's the luxury model but not as luxurious as the TI. It's a July 2004 model and is the last of the older looking models. It's in excellent condition with no scratches or anything. Always serviced by Nissan and done Just under 50 000k's Also it's never been off road and never been in 4L gear The options include: Tinted Windows Crystal Glone paint protection and leather seat protection (cost us 2 grand) ABS Leather Seats Leather bound steering wheel and gearsticks Electric Front seats Body coloured bumpers Air conditioning vents around whole car Bull Bar Driving lights Towbar What would you say it's worth now? It cost us around 65k and we are hoping to get at least 48k for it.

Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And being a Nissan diesel requiring a service every 5000 k's, I'll pay you $0.02.
p.s. forgot to add, I'm in a generous mood. that's why so high. |

My family has a July 2004 Nissan Patrol ST-L 3.0 Turbo Diesel with 50 000k's on it.
The ST-L has the following options. Some chrome features Leather seats Leather Bound Steering wheel and gearstick. ABS Central Air (vents around whole car) Electric front seat Bullbar Driving lights Towbar Body coloured bumpers $2000 paint and leather protection (Used on BMW's never need to be polished or waxed) Other things like floormats, service history etc. We were hoping for around $48k. They cost around $67k new with all these features. (excluding the bullbar, tow bar and driving lights because they're usually a free nissan promotion).

Well, as a comparison, I just bought a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT, no leather but almost everything else you can think of, that cost around $60k new, for just on $20k. I think your $48k is a bit optimistic, but as mine was a bargain, I'd have to say yours may be worth around $40k - check out redbook and that will give you a good guide.

My advice is don't take too much notice of redbook, glasses guide etc. They usually are a nation wide guide whereas prices can differ from state to state city to city model to model. Best idea is get onto carsales.com or carsguide or any other car selling website and see what other ones are going for. Wont be accurate but wont be far off the money. And remember it's only worth what someone will pay for it!

nah mate those patrols are like gold to the right buyer.... hell id buy it off you for 29000 cash (considering redbook prices) if i could (look at my sig...its what im looking for exactly)
the patrol is easily the most capable 4x4 around in any brand, comfort, ergonomics, power, 4x4 capabilities, ruggedness and very reliable, but at 48k i dont think it will sell very quickly.....then again everyone wants something for nothing and still not willing to pay for it good luck anyways

my guess would be mid 30-40 if in mint condition but it also depends if your looking at trading or selling privately, you will always get more in a private sale so if your asking top dollar that might be the way to go.

The 3.0ltres are a time bomb, know for burning a Hole in piston No4 as any patrol fan will tell you get the 4.2 Turbo diesel
Saying that you would probably get high 30's to mid 40's for it, not much more. The 4.2 Diesel Holds it's value something stupid despite being a dinosaur engine from the 80's just because of it's reputation as being unbreakable. yes off-road they don't come much more capable from factory than a patrol.

That is very true! my next door neighbour had an st patrol. about a 2005 model. Someone from W.A. bought it for almost the price thay payed for it. And thats at the start of this year. Even payed to get it freighted over there. Also kept the bull bar/winch/high lift suspension etc. send it to the west, and you will get more money

Yeah (I'm drunk as atm puking blood so my spelling might be a bit off).
It's an ST-L not an ST which cost a fair bit more. It's been offroad once, we accidently went on an offroad track and straight after we took it to one of those carwashers that get all the dirt off from uderneath around 30minutes after we went offroad accidentally. I'm in melbourne south east suburbs btw,

Just asked the used car manager here. We'd give you 31 for it assuming it's in good condition. Interior and exterior protection is worth nothing costs dealers less than $500. We'd sell it for $39990.

Need to be servied every 5,000 kms - WRONG!
Mandatory services need to be done every 10k.....intermediate services for harsh conditions etc every 5k Series I and II 3.0 diesels had an issue where the oil jet spraying up into the piston wasn't large enough for Aussie conditions and could cause piston failure. Usually the contributing factors to this was continuous load and heat (ie towing a van in FNQ) but not always. Nissan have been very supportive of fixing these engine when they failed even outside of warranty....to a point. This was fixed for Series III with a larger sump and bigger oil jets. Yep 4.2 litre is considered the 'old skool' tough as nails engine despite its electonic fuel pump and ECU etc. You paid more for this old technology engine when new though - go figure. Yes WA and QLD pay more for 4x4's that down south/east....but they pay less for E-Gas / LPG vehicles. |
