On the same point, its not like he went out with the intention of injuring or killing anyone. and thats where the whole lawsuit issues have jumped the rails. Ok there needs to be consequences, but ffs, did he line them up? Yes he and the organisers should have said this isnt safe, just as the people over 16 ( their legal driving age ) should have known. the younger ones, where were their parents/guardians? they didnt do their job of looking after them.

I have 2 little ones, and its not hard to keep the out of the 'line of fire' of danger. If it looks dangerous, it probably is.

Drag racing is a HUGE sport in the US and im sure most people would have an idea of what its about. same as nascar.

The problem is the organisers probably dont want responsibility, troy is looking to take whatever his share is, but the parents are NOT. they are pointing the finger and demanding money.

why is this world always so money hungry? will money bring the lost ones back? or even ease the suffering? no. it will only cause others to be destroyed and that i feel is pointless.

we need perspective in this world and REAL punishments, not this greed inflated BS.

no i havent lost anyone, but i NEARLY HAVE. and i wouldnt have blamed the other party ( even though they were speeding ).

Exactly - you can't blame the crowd. They wern't car enthusiasts, how would they know the risks? If I knew nothing about drag racing and turned up one day and no one told me otherwise I would fully expect to be safe as its run by professionals in a highly litigious society. I mean if it wasn't safe they wouldn't let you stand so close...

Regarding the $ sums mentioned you have to remember most figures floated are for the purpose of negotiation.. i.e: they want 10 mill but the party offers 3 mill so they settly for 5 mill kind of thing.
Also there is usually some kind of insurance protection to cover it..
Im sure all involved have some kind of public liability insurance which will cover most of this.

We're talking about the US though, where drag racing is huge and you see car chases on the news every night.

They know cars are dangerous ffs.

And negotiation or not, asking $24mill is disgraceful.

I don't think you can either but wanting as much money off their death as you can get is just greed. Is all that money really going to make you feel better? If it is, I doubt they were a true 'loved one'.

they're suing for so much because they want to punish the people responsible. if someone ran over my kid i'd want the people responsible to pay for it for the rest of their lives.

personally i feel for the driver as i dont think it was 100% his fault. i can see where the relatives of the victims are coming from though.

This whole incident is a huge tragedy of the highest calibre. Troy certainly didn't mean to crash but accidents do happen and i'm sure there was event insurance that should be covering all of this. Ever since this tragedy Troy is a wreck just like all the families that has lost loved ones, sometimes you just wish you could turn back time.
