can someone please explain to me why..................
when i pay someone in the U.S from my bank account through paypal, the money is cleared and in there paypal account INSTANTLY, yet when i pay someone in Australia, exactly the same way that i pay someone in the U.S, it takes 3 days just for the money to clear my bank account and then another day for PayPal to process it?
anyone?
it doesnt make sense.

Because we are in Australia and they don't really care about anyone outside the U.S.

The same reason you get charged fee's from your bank or institution.
They are rip off pri*ks.
The bank hold it for a few days, and make interest off it.
The same goes for cheques. Why does it take 5 days to clear a check, despite if it's coming out of the same branch or bank, or one of their competitors?????
The same reason if YOU ring up and transfer money from your account to someone elses (EFT), It will tranfer that night! Get YOUR bank to do that same transfer for you, it takes a few days to go through, BUT, the money is subtracted from your account straight away. And the banks have a far superior funds transfer system than I will ever have at home! After all, they are the said bank!!!!!!
For every few days they can hold money, they make the interest off it. Do that to every customer they can, they have a few million at any one time, earning interest for themselves.
You do the math.
The banks will never be there for a customer. They are there to profit from the business in any way they can.

AGRO.

Same here... I've used paypal for purchases from Japan, USA, Hong Kong and Australia, and all the transactions were completed almost straight away.

My first thought was 'International transaction', but I have been using PayPal for years (and still do) on a semi-regular basis for this type of thing and never actually noticed it do what you describe.

Mine goes through straight away, whether it is local or overseas. I use my bank account then have my credit card listed as back up. I am verified as well.

Never had any delay. Don't know whether I use .com or .com.au whatever links straight from eBay.com.au I guess.
