Hey mate,

First up check the For Sale section of this forum as there are some good deals in there. Next try www.governmentauctions.com.au or www.discountnewcars.com.au

I went to fowles a few ago in Melb the Gov Auctioned cars were way to dear, all the cars were un reg , no rwc , no test drive, most had books eg 05/2006 xr turbo 57185 ks 6sp tip, went for $26000 + Reg RWC $300 buyer premium and any RWC costs + $80 permit to drive with no plates, better deals on carsales .com 05/06 xt on gas 52000 ks , no reg , needs service $ 19700 , there are much better buys to be had privately or with dealers, stay away from auctions unless you know the car , the auctioneers knock the good ones down real quick to their regular buyers

Mine came through Fowles Manheim in sydney.

Paid $20,750 for an 07/2005 with 79k in December 2006.

Auctions are OK in my mind, I got a dealer to bid for me.

I think the best value is actually in the damaged cars (repairable)

Auctions are a good thing if your patient and have the time to visit them regularly. I've bought all 3 of my cars from the auctions and all have been excellent deals but it took me a few weeks to wait for the right one.
